49ers vs. Bills Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

The Bills are off a bye week and 6.5-point favourites on the NFL odds with a total of 46.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

When the NFL schedule was released in mid-May, this looked like a very realistic preview of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. And maybe it still will be. Buffalo (9-2) is doing its part sitting atop the AFC East and essentially a lock to win that division for a fifth straight season. The key for the Bills the rest of the way is to try and catch overall AFC leader Kansas City (10-1) for the conference’s top seed – Buffalo would win the head-to-head tiebreaker.

San Francisco (5-6) is a two-time defending NFC West champion and the reigning conference winner and was favored to repeat in both entering the season but major injuries have derailed Coach Kyle Shanahan’s last-place team to where a loss here could be crushing for any postseason hopes. The Niners sit 11th in the NFC but only a game out in the division, so that’s going to be their most likely route back to the playoffs if its happens. However, San Francisco is +400 to be a playoff team and -575 for no.

These teams have met 13 times previously, all in the regular season, with Buffalo leading 7-6. It has won the past two, but they haven’t met since 2020.

San Francisco 49ers

The Niners played without three injured Pro Bowlers on Sunday in quarterback Brock Purdy, left tackle Trent Williams and pass-rusher Nick Bosa, among some others, and predictably were blown out in Green Bay 38-10. Brandon Allen threw for only 199 yards with a TD and pick and star running back Christian McCaffrey, in only his third game of the season off injury, was held to 68 yards from scrimmage. It was San Francisco’s largest loss since 2018 and worst-ever road loss under Coach Kyle Shanahan. This marks the first time the franchise has been below .500 since the end of 2020. It has never made the playoffs after a 5-6 mark or worse through 11 games. It’s possible Purdy is back for this one. He has never been a regular-season underdog as a starting QB in his career but would be regardless and would have been against the Packers. San Francisco is now 9-31 under Shanahan in games started by any QB but Purdy or Jimmy Garoppolo. The team is also 5-11 without Bosa since drafting him in 2019.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo handed the unbeaten Chiefs their first loss in Week 11 and then got Week 12 off. Many people thought the Bills would take a step back in 2024 after losing some key veterans this offseason due to salary-cap reasons led by Pro Bowl WR Stefon Diggs. But QB Josh Allen is having his best season and is the +150 favourite to win NFL MVP for the first time. Allen had an epic 26-yard TD run on fourth-and-2 with about two minutes left vs. Kansas City to clinch that victory – the kind of signature moment that MVP voters are going to remember. Coming off the bye means Buffalo could get back injured players such as WR Keon Coleman, OL Spencer Brown, TE Dalton Kincaid and LB Matt Milano this week. Buffalo is 32-7 at home since 2020, the NFL’s best record in that span. It has won five straight regardless of location out of a bye week (3-1-1 ATS).
