On the bright side, it can't get much worse for Mitchell Trubisky in the Bears' offence.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears
NFL Point Spread: Bears -3.5
Date: Dec. 2, 1:00 PM ET
Soldier Field – Chicago, Illinois
Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Bears opened as 4.5-point favourites with a 39.5-point over/under line on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board. The spread has come down a point to 3.5 and the total has gone up a point to 40.
Chicago is coming off its worst loss of the season – a 31-3 lashing at the hands of the first-place Eagles – and is winless since the third weekend of October. The Bears are 3-8 straight up, 5-5-1 against the spread and the under is 7-4 in their 11 games this year.
The Niners lost and failed to cover as 7-point home underdogs on Sunday against the Seahawks. The loss moves them down to 1-10 SU and 5-6 ATS with a 5-6 over/under mark on the season.
The Bears won and covered against the 49ers in Week 13 last year at Soldier Field.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco acquired Garoppolo weeks ago but decided against throwing him into the starting lineup right away. The second round pick in the 2014 draft made headlines around the league in the two games he started at the beginning of last season filling in for a suspended Tom Brady.
Garoppolo completed 71.18 percent of his 59 pass attempts for 496 yards and four touchdown passes with no interceptions in those two starts. He’s been riding the pine since Week 3 of last season, though, so there could be some rust in his game legs.
Chicago’s offense is so bad it’s hard to watch even for diehard fans of team. Da Bears totaled just 140 yards and their running backs ran for negative six yards against the Eagles. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s game against Philly ranked as the third worst Total QBR rating (0.54) since ESPN developed the statistic in 2006.
The Bears’ opponents have outgained them by 473 total yards over the last five games.
