2026 Super Bowl: Gatorade odds and prediction
The Gatorade shower is one of the best traditions in football and also one of the most popular novelty props in the Super Bowl every year.
The Philadelphia Eagles doused Nick Sirianni with yellow Gatorade last year (which is also considered green). That’s the first time the colour has come up since 2017, coincidentally the last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl before last year.
Let’s jump in with the Gatorade colour odds and prediction ahead of Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8.
2026 Super Bowl Gatorade colour odds
Orange opens as a short +225 favourite over yellow/green and blue, which are listed at +260. That’s an interesting line considering orange hasn’t been the colour in six years, while yellow has come up twice in that span and blue has been the colour three times.
It’s tempting to take purple or clear because of the better price, but I think the smart play is blue. Seattle and New England each feature blue as their primary jersey colour and I’m banking on both teams filling their Gatorade jugs with plenty of blue.
2026 Super Bowl Gatorade colour history
| Gatorade Colour | Appearances |
|---|---|
| Orange | 5 |
| Purple | 4 |
| Clear | 4 |
| None | 4 |
| Blue | 4 |
| Yellow | 4 |
It’s an incredibly tight list when it comes to which Gatorade colour is most often dumped on the winning coach’s head. Orange stands alone at the top with five appearances, but purple, blue, yellow, clear and no Gatorade are all right behind at four appearances each.

Super Bowl Gatorade trends
I’m not overly surprised to find out three of the four times no Gatorade has been dumped on a coach, the team was New England. But, this is a different Pats team. No one should be surprised Bill Belichick would avoid the Gatorade bath, but by all accounts, new head coach Mike Vrabel is loved by the players and as a former player himself, I would be shocked if he tries to avoid a Gatorade bath.
Super Bowl Gatorade tradition
The Gatorade shower dates back to 1984 when former New York Giants nose tackle Jim Burt doused head coach Bill Parcells following an October win over Washington.
Ironically, the first Gatorade shower wasn’t a celebration. It was actually a revenge move because Burt and Parcells frequently clashed and Burt thought Parcells had been unfairly harsh at that week’s practices.
The Gatorade shower continued as a team tradition over the next couple of seasons, including during the Giants’ 1986 Super Bowl-winning campaign.
