NFL Betting Power Rankings for Week 5

1. San Francisco 49ers

SU: 4-0
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +500
Last week’s ranking: 2

The 49ers survived a stout effort from the visiting Arizona Cardinals last weekend, but once again took control after recess. The Niners have been almost unstoppable in the second half of games this season, outscoring opponents by a 51-18 margin.

2. Detroit Lions

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +1800
Last week’s ranking: 7

The Lions defence has emerged as the star during this team’s 2-0 run, allowing just 206.5 total yards per game. The Lions offense is also finding ways to score on the ground and in the air.

3. Buffalo Bills

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +700
Last week’s ranking: 3

The Bills have buried the memory of their stunning loss to the new York Jets in Week 1, and with last weekend’s rout of the Dolphins, Buffalo has now claimed victory by an average margin of 30 points in three straight wins.

4. Kansas City Chiefs

SU: 3-1
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +550
Last week’s ranking: 5

The Chiefs had their hand full against a stingy Jets defence, which picked off Patrick Mahomes twice in last weekend’s slim 23-20 win. While the Chiefs now ride a three-game win streak, they have scored more than 23 points just once.

5. Miami Dolphins

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +1100
Last week’s ranking: 1

The red-hot Dolphins were manhandled in a 48-20 loss in Buffalo last weekend, but with dates against the New York Giants and Carolina on their upcoming schedule, there will be plenty of opportunity for this team to right the ship.

6. Philadelphia Eagles

SU: 4-0
ATS: 2-1-1
Super Bowl Odds: +700
Last week’s ranking: 4

The Eagles faced a stiff challenge from Washington in last weekend’s 34-31 overtime loss to stay undefeated straight up, but have yet to produce an ATS win at home this season.

7. Seattle Seahawks

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +4000
Last week’s ranking: 9

The Seahawks once again silenced doubters with a decisive 24-3 win over the hapless New York Giants last weekend. Seattle has averaged 32.7 points per game during their 3-0 run, and enjoy a favourable schedule that features upcoming dates with Cincinnati, Arizona, and Cleveland.

8. Dallas Cowboys

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +900
Last week’s ranking: 12

The Cowboys atoned from their embarrassing loss to Arizona with a 38-3 rout of the new England Patriots last weekend, but will be put to the test on their upcoming two-game visit to California.

9. Baltimore Ravens

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +1400
Last week’s ranking: 13

Lamar Jackson accounted for all four scores in last week’s 28-3 win in Cleveland, and as long as the talented quarterback remains healthy, the ravens remain a solid bet.

10. Green Bay Packers

SU: 2-2
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +6600
Last week’s ranking: 6

Jordan Love has cooled off considerably since opening the season with consecutive three-TD performances. The Packers pivot was exposed by a ferocious Detroit defence in last week’s loss to the Lions, but will have ample opportunity to redeem themselves this weekend, under the lights versus a battered Las Vegas Raiders squad.

11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

SU: 3-1
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +6600
Last week’s ranking: 14

The Buccaneers enter their bye week in sole possession of top spot in the NFC South thanks to the steady play of Baker Mayfield and a stout defence that has allowed more than 17 points just once this season.

12. Los Angeles Rams

SU: 2-2
ATS: 3-0-1
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 15

The Rams have enjoyed some fast starts in the early going, and have exceeded expectations. However, injuries are a massive concern for this team.

13. Tennessee Titans

SU: 2-2
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 20

The Titans’ Jekyll & Hyde act continued with last week’s decisive 27-3 win over the slumping Bengals. Derrick Henry finally busted out with his first 122-yard performance topping the entire team’s total yardage in their brutal 27-3 loss in Cleveland two weeks ago. Which version of the team will show up in Indianapolis this weekend?

14. Houston Texans

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +10000
Last week’s ranking: 19

It hasn’t taken CJ Stroud long to establish himself as the real deal. The rookie pivot has tossed six scoring passes over the past three weeks, and while growing pains are to be expected, Stroud has immediately elevated the Texans from doormat to competitive.

15. Arizona Cardinals

SU: 1-3
ATS: 3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +75000
Last week’s ranking: 11

The Cardinals have remained competitive in their first four outings, at least through three quarters, but their tendency to wilt in the final frame make them a risky pick.

16. Indianapolis Colts

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 8

The Colts have taken opponents to overtime in each of their past two contests, but remain winless but remain winless SU and ATS with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson at the helm.

17. Los Angeles Chargers

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +2200
Last week’s ranking: 16

Defence remains a concern for the Chargers, who allowed a toothless Raiders squad to make it a game in last week’s 24-17 victory. Last week’s lack of scoring after the half shouldn’t be overlooked.

18. Cleveland Browns

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +3500
Last week’s ranking: 10

Just when you thought Deshaun Watson was returning to form, the controversial pivot gets sidelined by a shoulder injury. Watson is not expected to be out long, but this team’s fortunes are closely tied to Watson’s health and success.

19. Jacksonville Jaguars

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +3069
Last week’s ranking: 22

The Jaguars have struggled to generate consistent offence and have scored just 26 total points in two losses in Jacksonville. Things went better last weekend in London, but this team needs Trevor Lawrence to regain his late-season form of last year.

20. Washington Commanders

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 23

The Commanders continued to overachieve while putting a scare into Philadelphia in last weekend’s 34-31 overtime loss. A favourable schedule featuring dates with Chicago, Atlanta, and the Giants should help buoy this team on the rankings.

21. New York Jets

SU: 1-3
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +15000
Last week’s ranking: 27

The Jets defence gave the Chiefs all they could handle in last week’s 23-20 loss, but with Zach Wilson leading the Jets’ 28th-ranked offence for now, New York is unlikely to make much noise at the sportsbook.

22. Minnesota Vikings

SU: 1-3
ATS: 1-2-1
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 28

A date with Carolina is what the Vikings needed to earn their first win of the season. Noted for their run of success in close games last season, the Vikings have seen their three losses come by a combined margin of just 13 points.

23. Las Vegas Raiders

SU: 1-3
ATS: 1-3
Super Bowl Odds: +25000
Last week’s ranking: 24

Full marks to the Raiders for keeping things close against the Chargers without Jimmy Garoppolo last weekend. Jimmy G could be back this weekend, but will it be enough to end this team’s 1-6 SU slide?

24. New England Patriots

SU: 1-3
ATS: 1-3
Super Bowl Odds: +12500
Last week’s ranking: 18

Mac Jones has failed to spark a Patriots offence that has scored just 13.3 points per game, second worst in the NFL. Can they bust out in their upcoming dates against the offensively challenged Saints and Raiders?

25. Pittsburgh Steelers

SU: 2-2
ATS: 2-2
Super Bowl Odds: +8000
Last week’s ranking: 17

The Steelers were already struggling to generate offense before losing Kenny Pickett to injury last weekend, and cannot lean on their ground game, which has yet to score this season.

26. Cincinnati Bengals

SU: 1-3
ATS: 0-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +3500
Last week’s ranking: 21

Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins are both hobbled by injury, and the Bengals defence sits near the bottom of the NFL team stats against both the pass and rush.

27. Atlanta Falcons

SU: 2-2
ATS: 1-3
Super Bowl Odds: +4299
Last week’s ranking: 25

After seeing the Falcons score just 13 total points while losing their past two games, one must wonder how long the Desmond Ritter experiment will last in Atlanta. However, back-to-back home wins to start the season provide hope as this team prepares to host CJ Stroud and the Texans.

28. Denver Broncos

SU: 1-3
ATS: 0-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +20000
Last week’s ranking: 31

After getting outscored by a wide 102-32 margin over their previous six quarters of play, the Broncos spotted Chicago a 28-7 lead before storming back to claim a 31-28 win. Such heroics should not be expected as they prepare to face the Chiefs twice this month, along with a date against the Jets this weekend.

29. New Orleans Saints

SU: 2-2
ATS: 0-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +5000
Last week’s ranking: 26

The return of Alvin Kamara failed to jumpstart a moribund Saints offence that has now gone six straight quarters without a touchdown. With five of their next seven games on the road, Derek Carr and the Saints must urgently find a way to boost an attack that has averaged just 15.5 points per game.

30. Carolina Panthers

SU: 0-4
ATS: 0-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +50000
Last week’s ranking: 29

It has been a tough NFL debut for Bryce Young, who has thrown just one scoring pass outside of garbage time, and been sacked nine times in his past two starts. Things are about to get even tougher during a two-game road trip to Miami and Detroit.

31. New York Giants

SU: 1-3
ATS: 0-4
Super Bowl Odds: +20000
Last week’s ranking: 30

Any preseason optimism that existed has evaporated during the Giants 1-3 start. Daniel Jones has thrown for just two scores against six picks, Saquon Barkley is injured again, and the defence has allowed opponents to outscore New York by a wide 71-9 margin before halftime.

32. Chicago Bears

SU: 0-4
ATS: 0-3-1
Super Bowl Odds: +50000
Last week’s ranking: 32

Another week, another disastrous result for the Bears, who squandered a 28-7 third-quarter lead in last week’s 31-28 loss to Broncos. Justin Fields did his part by tossing for four TDs, but has received little help from both his offensive line and the Bears defence.
