Lovers of high-scoring games with sloppy defenses being exposed by talented offensive playmakers will enjoy this year’s Sun Bowl matchup. Arizona State players hope to give their recently fired head coach a win in his last game in charge when the Sun Devils play the NC State Wolfpack in the 2017 Sun Bowl.

Betting Analysis

The Sun Devils went 6-3 straight up and 7-2 against the spread in Pac-12 play but started the year off with outright losses to Texas Tech and San Diego State. ASU went 0-3 ATS in its three non-conference games this season. The under cashed in six of the Sun Devils’ first seven contests and 1-4 the rest of the way.

NC State lost its Week 1 opener against South Carolina but rebounded by winning next seven straight with victories over Florida State and Louisville inside the run. The Wolfpack finished the regular season 8-4 SU and 4-7-1 ATS with the under cashing in eight of their 12 games.

The under is 8-1 in NC State’s last nine games but 0-5 in the team’s last five bowl games.

About 78 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are backing the Wolfpack to cover as 7-point favourites while 80 percent expect the game to go over the 60-point game total.

NC State Wolfpack

Todd Graham was informed he would no longer be the head coach in 2018 despite the Sun Devils winning three of their last four games. The Sun Bowl will be the last game Graham coaches for the program and there could be some players with extra incentive to send Graham off with a bang. He’s been at Tempe since 2012 – which means he’s recruited all the players on the team.

Arizona State Sun Devils

The Wolfpack have a number of interesting players worth watching for casual observers including quarterback Ryan Finley. The second-year starter completed 64 percent of his pass attempts and finished with 3200 yards and 16 TDs through the air.

Jaylen Samuels is the Swiss army knife in NC State’s offensive toolbox. He’s listed as a tight end but he finished third on the team in rushing yards (383) and first in rushing scores (11). He also racked up 69 receptions for 551 yards and four touchdowns.
