The Wildcats’ Khalil Tate was one of the most electrifying QBs in the nation, running for 1,353 yards and 12 touchdowns to help Arizona boast the sixth-best scoring offence in the nation. But they’ll be in tough against Purdue, which ranked 17th in scoring defense.

Wildcats vs. Boilermakers Spread and Betting Analysis

Oddsmakers are giving the Wildcats’ sensational offence a slight edge over the Boilermakers’ vaunted defence in this one, though Purdue was a better cover option (8-4 ATS) than Arizona (6-6 ATS) over the course of the season. Neither team has fared all that well in recent bowl history; the Wildcats have covered just once in their previous six bowl appearances, while the Boilermakers are also 1-5 ATS in their last six bowl games overall.

Arizona gets the nod from 54 percent of Sports Interaction bettors, while everyone is on board with the over play on the game’s 66-point total. The Wildcats and their opponents went over the 70-point plateau 10 times in 12 games this season, including eight consecutive times to close out Arizona’s calendar. But expect stiff resistance from a Purdue team that went under the total in six of its final seven games and is 1-4 O/U in its last five vs. teams with winning records.

Arizona Wildcats

Tate will be one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in college next season, running for an incredible 1,207 yards with 11 touchdowns in his first six games after becoming the starter in early October. Not surprisingly, the Wildcats went 5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS and 6-0 O/U in those six contests. Tate also showed promise as a quarterback, completing more than 61 percent of his passes – though he did throw just nine touchdown passes against eight interceptions.

Purdue Boilermakers

The Boilermakers were a solid team in third-down defence, holding opponents to a 36.5-percent conversion rate – ranking inside the top 50 nationally. But that prowess will be put to the test against an Arizona offence that converted 43.5 of third-down opportunities – just outside the top 30 among FBS teams. Purdue QB Elijah Sindelar is red-hot coming into Saturday’s encounter, throwing for seven touchdowns against just one interception over his previous three games.
