Georgetown Hoyas NCAAB Tournament Preview 2008

Can the Hoyas live up to their regular season form and put a smile on the NCAAB Betting public?

The Georgetown Hoyas followed up their stellar 2006-07 season with another good regular season. But they did not always do it the easy way. The Hoyas relied on last second plays (or calls a la Villanova) for many of their wins this year. As the saying goes, good teams win close games and Georgetown is just that.

Georgetown has four starters back from the team that reached the Final Four last year. They are the defending champs in the Big East Tournament and regular season standings. All of this has made them regular NCAA basketball betting favourites. Jeff Green is the one starter not returning and as the 2007 Big East Player of the Year, he will surely be missed. But this is Roy Hibbert’s team now.

As they have in the regular season, Georgetown will look to ride Hibbert deep in the tournament. The 7’2”, 275lb senior led the team in scoring and rebounding and should be a force to be reckoned with in the Tournament.

Under John Thompson III, Georgetown has become known for excellent defense while running an efficient offence. Defense wins championships and the Hoyas are one of the best defending teams in the country.

Georgetown has Championship aspirations and will be a team to watch in the Tournament. They have an experienced team who know what it takes to get to the late rounds of the Tournament.
