Oregon vs. Virginia Bracket Prediction: March Madness Sweet 16 Odds
The Ducks are the highest seed remaining in the tournament and the biggest underdogs to advance past the Sweet 16 according to the oddsmakers.
Oregon (12) vs. Virginia (1) NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
Oregon extended its win streak to 10 games with its 19-point win over Big West champions UC Irvine. The Ducks are a perfect 10-0 against the spread since the magical run became at the end of February.
They won four games in four days to grab the Pac-12 crown and they were the lone team to take down a Big Ten team in the Round of 64. Nike University is 11-4 straight up and 9-6 ATS in games against non-conference opponents this season.
In a tournament where the story has been chalk walking, Virginia could have flipped the script if it had failed to recover from a 14-point deficit in its Round of 64 matchup against Gardner-Webb.
The Cavaliers avoided losing to a No. 16 seed for a second straight year and looked more like themselves in the Round of 32 against Oklahoma. Tony Bennett’s group held an Oklahoma side that put up 95 points in its previous game to just 51 points.
UVA is 9-1 straight up in its last 10 games but just 2-3 against the number in its last five. The team is favoured to come out of the South Region at -149 and Sports Interaction lists Virginia as the second overall favourite to win the national championship at +425. Only the Zion-Williamson-powered Blue Devils have shorter odds (+260) to cut down the nets.
Oregon Ducks
Defence is the story behind Oregon’s prolonged winning run. The Ducks have allowed 54 or fewer points in eight of their last 10 games. Oddsmakers are starting to catch up to the trend. The Over/Under line has been set between 116.5 and 127 points over Oregon’s last three games.
The low totals has slowed down the Ducks’ Under trend. The Under cashed in 11 of 12 Oregon games but it failed to hit in both of the team’s games from the first weekend of the Big Dance.
Virginia Cavaliers
The Cavaliers made it to the Sweet 16, but to advance to the Elite Eight or further in the tourney they’ll need more from Kyle Guy. The junior guard led Virginia in scoring during the regular season but he registered just 12 points on 4-for-23 shooting in the first weekend. He went 0-for-10 from 3-point range in his last game too.
