Warriors vs. Grizzlies Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread

Jeremy Perry | Updated Mar 20, 2021

Andrew Wiggins' season-high 40 points on Friday was the difference-maker for the Warriors. On Saturday, Wiggins will be looking to show that wasn't a one-off performance.

The Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies are set to wrap-up a two-game set on Saturday night. On Friday, the Warriors rested Steph Curry and still rolled the Grizzlies by a final score of 116-103. With Curry’s status in doubt again for Saturday’s game, can the Warriors deliver again or will Memphis get back on track?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Warriors are 12-4 against the spread in their past 16 games when the opposing team has a losing straight up record but could drop a small bit in this one. Keep an eye on the status of Curry, who is doubtful.

On the other hand, the Under is 9-3 in the Grizzlies last 12 games overall and is bound to go Under once again. The Warriors offence will be slowed down quite a bit without a few starters and the Grizzlies are coming off games where they only scored 103 and 89 points total. It could be another low-scoring affair.

With Curry’s status in doubt, the Grizzlies are 5.5-point favourites on the NBA odds, but that will likely change if Curry is ready to play.

Golden State Warriors

Outside of Curry and Draymond Green, this Warriors team hasn’t been able to find any consistency this year. Curry averages 29 points per game while Draymond pitches in 6.3 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest, leading the team in all of those categories. However, this Warriors squad is in for a rough game as Curry is doubtful to make it into the court after suffering a tailbone injury a few days ago. To make matters worse, Eric Paschall and James Wiseman are both ruled out for this matchup as well because of COVID-19 protocols. This team is now left with Green, Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre as their primary scorers. Wiggins had 40 last night, though, so he really flexed his muscles. Meanwhile, Jordan Poole came in and scored 25 while Damion Lee had 21. The Grizzlies are a terrible team – especially on defence – so the Warriors can probably survive without Curry again.

Memphis Grizzlies

Unlike the Warriors, the Grizzlies will only be missing one player from their rotation and that’s Jaren Jackson Jr. He has missed the entire season so far and the Grizzlies have felt his absence. Memphis will have the excellent duo of Ja Morant and Jonas Valanciunas on the court in this matchup and could give the Warriors problems on both ends of the floor. Valanciunas already averages 15.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game and could have a field day against the Wisemen-less Warriors squad. However, he only had 10 points on Friday, although he did have 16 rebounds. Morant should also gather a ton of attention due to his averages of 19.4 points and 7.6 assists per contest, which could open the door for a lot of role players to get easy shots. Outside of Morant and Valanciunas, the remaining three starters on the Grizzlies scored 29 points last night. That’s not good enough.
