Saying the Houston Rockets have battled injuries this year would be an understatement. The team was down to just eight available players in their last matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers and could face those same troubles in this game. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks are on a four-game winning streak and flying high in the Eastern Conference. Will the undermanned Rockets pick up an upset win or at least cover on Friday?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Milwaukee is a heavy double-digit favourite on the NBA odds.

The under is 6-1 in the Rockets last six games played on a Friday but that may change here. While Houston doesn’t have a lot of offensive weapons left on their roster, the Bucks have quite a few options. If Milwaukee starts piling on the points, it could cause Houston to do everything they can just to catch up.

As for the Bucks, they are 0-5 against the spread in their last five games played at home against a team with a losing road record. Their team is miles better than the Rockets as evidenced by having 26 more wins than them. Milwaukee should get back on track here.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets were luckily able to take down the Bucks in the last matchup against them in a shootout, winning 143-136. That game may be an outlier, though. After all, Kevin Porter Jr. did score 50 points and collect 11 assists. Porter may not even be active for this contest as he nurses an ankle injury that he suffered just a few days ago. This doesn’t leave the team with many options offensively, leaving the veteran Kelly Olynyk in charge of their scoring. He happens to be having the best statistical season of his career and holds averages of 18.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on a fantastic 57 per cent shooting from the floor. He will need to continue to play at that level if the team has any chances of taking down a top seed in the Eastern Conference.

Then again, they don’t have much to play for. The team is 16-50 on the season and dead last in the entire league as their focus seems to be more on obtaining a top pick in the lottery during this upcoming draft. There is no doubt that this team could keep it competitive against Milwaukee, but the talent difference is astounding here.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are 7-3 in their last 10 games, winning two of those against the number two seed in the Eastern Conference the Brooklyn Nets. They followed those wins up with a narrow victory over the Washington Wizards without Khris Middleton. Middleton is expected to miss this upcoming game as well, barring any breakthroughs on his recovery, which means that Giannis Antetokounmpo will have to continue his stellar play. Antetokounmpo is averaging 36 points in his last three games since returning from injury, including a 49-piece against the Nets. Given how thin the Rockets are in their rotation, they will have to exert a ton of energy to keep Giannis out of the paint for an extended period of time.
