Should anyone have been surprised that the Warriors took one of the first two games of the NBA Finals in Toronto? That’s now 23 straight series that Golden State has won a road playoff game, easily an NBA record.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Game 2 109-104 victory stole home-court advantage for the Dubs, who are playing their final games at Oakland’s Oracle Arena with the team moving to a spectacular new building next year across the bay in San Francisco.

On the updated NBA title odds at Sports Interaction, Golden State is -227 and Toronto is +175 – both were -118 entering Game 2. The favoured exact result is Warriors in six games at +200. Might Raptors super-fan Drake make the trek to Oakland? There’s a special prop on whether Drake is ejected from any game this series: yes-only at +1000.

Toronto Raptors

If the Raptors lose this series, they are surely going to be kicking themselves for losing Game 2 when the Warriors were again without Kevin Durant and saw fellow All-Star Klay Thompson injure his hamstring and leave in the fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard had a monster game with 34 points and 14 rebounds – he was 16-for-16 from the free-throw line, the most free throws without a miss in NBA Finals history. However, Pascal Siakam came way back to earth after a huge Game 1 with just 12 points on 5-for-18 shooting.

Kyle Lowry managed only 13 points and Marc Gasol six. Golden State is continually daring guys other than Leonard to hit shots. The difference was coming out of halftime as Toronto yielded an 18-0 run to begin the third quarter, shooting 0-of-8 from the field with five turnovers in that span.

Golden State Warriors

Will Durant play in Game 3? Probably won’t have that answer until a few hours beforehand. Most think it would be a surprise if KD was ready. Thompson was set to have an MRI on his hamstring Monday but says he’s fine. He had 25 points in Game 2. Centre Kevin Looney injured his hamstring in Game 2 and is questionable for Wednesday. What was hugely unexpected Sunday was the big contribution from DeMarcus Cousins, who was a non-factor in the series opener after returning from injury. Cousins had 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in 28 minutes in Game 2.

The Warriors put on a passing clinic in the second half, assisting on all 22 of their second-half made baskets, becoming just the second team since the NBA/ABA merger to assist on every made shot in a Finals half. Under Steve Kerr, Golden State still hasn’t lost four straight times to any team in the NBA, regular season or playoffs. The Raptors had won the first three this season.
