Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction, NBA Odds

Toronto is a 2-point underdog on the NBA odds with both teams down multiple starters.

Raptors vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds

It’s always very challenging to bet NBA games in April. Some teams on the way to the postseason will rest guys to ensure good health. That’s definitely not the case in Sunday’s Toronto-Brooklyn matchup as both are long eliminated from playoff contention but at this point for lottery-bound teams, it’s still better to lose than win and get more ping-pong balls if possible.

We will see several starters on each side sit out Sunday, especially with Toronto ahead of its home finale on Wednesday when likely everyone healthy of note would play. That said, this writer expects both clubs to be much better in 2025-26.

This concludes the season series with Toronto leading 2-1. The lone game at Barclays Center was on March 26 and the Dinos put for one of their best efforts of the season in a 116-86 blowout when, yep, a few regulars on each side were out. Scottie Barnes is one of a few Raptors who have played in all three matchups and is averaging 21.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Cameron Johnson leads the Nets in averaging 28.5 points in the series, and centre Nic Claxton is putting up 15.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in it.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto has followed a four-game winning streak with three straight losses, beaten 117-105 at home by Detroit on Friday night even though the Pistons were without All-Star Cade Cunningham and fellow starter Tobias Harris. But the Dinos were in the second of a back-to-back (finished 3-12 in the second half of those this season) and without Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Ochai Agbaji. Ja’Kobe Walter led the way with 22 points. He went 2-for-2 from the free throw line, extending his consecutive free throws made streak to 22 and pass Andrea Bargnani (20) for most made in a row by a Raptors rookie in team history. Barnes is questionable Sunday with his hand injury, while Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl and Gradey Dick are all out. The Raptors look to win a season series against the Nets for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign. Toronto is 8-2 ATS in its past 10 road games.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets had a two-game winning streak snapped Thursday in a 105-90 home loss to Minnesota. Nic Claxton led the team with 18 points and six rebounds in the loss. If Brooklyn plays any starters at this point, it’s usually for no more than 28 minutes to help with the tanking and also to get young guys some minutes. Claxton (10.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG) and fellow starters Cameron Johnson (18.8 PPG and D’Angelo Russell (12.9 PPG, 5.6 APG) will not play at all Sunday. Forwards Jalen Wilson (9.2 PPG) and Ziaire Williams (10.1 PPG) will be available. Brooklyn, 2-4 ATS in its past six games, has no Canadians on its roster but Nets head coach Jordi Fernández served as the head coach of the Canadian National Team. Nets GM Sean Marks played with the Raptors for the first two seasons of his NBA career.
