Raptors vs. Magic NBA Betting Odds
This two-game set in Orlando will mark Toronto’s third time this season where it will face a team in back-to-back games. The Raptors split a home-and home with Miami in late November/early December and lost Jan. 23 and 25 in in Atlanta. Orlando also has had two previous such series, winning two in Brooklyn and splitting two in Philadelphia.
These clubs have split their two meetings in Toronto, with Orlando winning the first 106-97 on Jan. 3 and the Raptors with a 109-93 upset victory on Jan. 21 when they rallied from a 21-point deficit. That also marked Toronto’s first win this season when trailing at halftime.
Scottie Barnes is averaging 18.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists in the season series and Jakob Poeltl 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Orlando has one of the NBA’s best young frontcourts in former Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, but Wagner didn’t play in either of the first two matchups and Banchero just one – both are healthy now.
Orlando is 6-4 SU and ATS in the past 10 meetings overall. The over-under is 3-7.
Toronto Raptors
The Dinos enter on a three-game skid and with just one win since the All-Star break following a 125-115 OT loss in Chicago on Friday – blowing a 16-point fourth-quarter lead. It was the largest blown fourth-quarter lead in a loss this season for the Raptors. It looked like Toronto still had everything in control leading 109-104 with under 30 seconds to go in regulation. But Immanuel Quickley committed a terrible foul on the Bulls’ Coby White as he made a 3-pointer with four seconds to go, and then the free throw tied it. Gradey Dick had missed a key free throw before that possession. Scottie Barnes led the Raptors with 24 points and Quickley had 23. Barnes has now recorded 25 games with at least 20 points this season, second on the team behind RJ Barrett’s 27. Reserve forward Ochai Agbaji injured his ankle in the game and will not play today. Brandon Ingram still isn’t particularly close to his team debut. The Raptors are 2-4 ATS in their past six.
Orlando Magic
Orlando also has scuffled some out of the break and lost its second game in a row Thursday, 121-115 at home to Golden State as the Warriors’ Steph Curry went nuts with 56 points. Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 41 points and Franz Wagner had 27, but no one else did much of anything offensively. Starting guard Jalen Suggs (16.2 PPG) hasn’t played since Jan. 25 and is out indefinitely with a trochlea injury in his left knee. You may recall in the 2021 NBA Draft that Toronto chose Scottie Barnes at No. 4 overall and Orlando took Suggs at No. 5. Barnes has been easily the better NBA player, but Suggs was having his best year. The Magic are 9-6 in games decided by five points or fewer compared to 14-18 in ones decided by at least 10 points. They lead the NBA in scoring defence at 105.8 points per game. Orlando is 6-14 ATS in its past 20.
