The Toronto Raptors play the second of a very tough road back-to-back on Sunday as they visit the Los Angeles Lakers, still the betting favourites to win the Western Conference. L.A. is an 8-point favourite to win for this game on the NBA odds.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Lakers are trying to avoid finishing lower than sixth to avoid competing in the play-in tournament. L.A. has a more important game Monday at home vs. Denver because a record inside a team’s conference is a vital tiebreaker.

Toronto had won 11 straight in this series until losing 110-101 in Tampa, Fla., on April 6, even though the Lakers had neither LeBron James nor Anthony Davis (who is back now). The Lakers built a 34-point lead in the first 20 minutes and it was over. L.A.’s Montrezl Harrell and Toronto’s OG Anunoby were ejected with 2:24 left in the first quarter after a bit of a scuffle involving a handful of players.

No Lakers player had more than 17 points, but seven of them had at least 10. The Raptors, who were 5-for-33 from deep, were led by Pascal Siakam’s 27 points. Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet both missed the game.

Los Angeles leads the all-time series 29-19 and they’re 12-8 against Toronto at Staples Center. The Raptors are 8-2 against the spread in the past 10 meetings, with their eight-game ATS winning streak ending in that first matchup.

Toronto Raptors

It’s the second of a back-to-back for the Raptors, who lost 106-102 in Utah on Saturday. The Dinos led entering the fourth, but they were held to only 13 points in the quarter on 6-for-24 shooting. Fred VanVleet had 30 points, seven assists and six rebounds to lead Toronto. However, he won’t play in this game due to “injury management.” Gary Trent, Chris Boucher and Paul Watson are also out for the Raptors. Kyle Lowry sat Saturday, but he is expected to play here. Toronto is 1-6 ATS in their past seven games in the second of a back-to-back.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers were stunned 110-106 at home by a bad Sacramento team on Friday in the return from injury of LeBron James. He had 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in 32 minutes. Anthony Davis had 22 points and Andre Drummond finished with 17, but no one else did much. LeBron is officially questionable for this game with an ankle injury. It’s also the front end of a back-to-back could lead to LeBron sitting. Alex Caruso is questionable with back spasms and Dennis Schroder is out. Los Angeles is 1-5 ATS in their past six at home.
