Former Toronto Raptor DeMar DeRozan has found the right fit in Chicago, combining with Zach LaVine to form one of the most dangerous scoring duos in the NBA.
Former Raptors star DeMar DeRozan should be back in the lineup Wednesday night for the Eastern Conference-contending Chicago Bulls when they host Toronto. Chicago is a 4.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds.
Raptors vs. Bulls NBA Betting Odds
Wednesday is the second of four regular-season meetings between the teams – they had games Dec. 16 in Toronto and Dec. 22 in Chicago postponed due to COVID issues.
On Oct. 25, Chicago won 111-108 at Scotiabank Arena behind 26 points from DeRozan and 22 points from Zach LaVine. They have been one of the top scoring duos in the NBA this season. The Bulls were largely criticized in the off-season for signing DeRozan to a three-year, $85 million deal and completing a sign-and-trade with the Spurs for him, but DeRozan is playing at an MVP-calibre level.
He won’t win that award (priced +2585) but should make an All-NBA team. Chicago is a legitimate contender in the East (+1137 to win it) if it can get healthy, but guards Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso and young forward Patrick Williams are all out multiple weeks.
Chicago has won four in a row in the series and leads all-time 52-44. It is 27-21 as the home team. The Bulls are 20-7 ATS in the past 27 overall.
Toronto Raptors
Toronto opened as a short favourite for Tuesday’s home game vs. Charlotte but closed as a short underdog when Fred VanVleet and Scottie Barnes were both surprisingly ruled out. The Dinos won anyway, 125-113. Gary Trent Jr. was terrific with a season-high 32 points and zero turnovers in 35 minutes. Pascal Siakam started at point guard and had 24 points and tied his career high with 12 assists, finishing a rebound shy of a second career triple-double. OG Anunoby had 24 points, and Dalano Banton, who rarely plays when Toronto is healthy, had 10 points and was plus-11 in 17 minutes off the bench. Consider VanVleet and Barnes questionable for this one. This spread may rise if they sit. The Raptors are 6-0 ATS in their past six in the second of a back-to-back.
Chicago Bulls
While Chicago rested DeRozan in the second of a back-to-back Monday, LaVine and starting swingman Javonte Green both returned from injury absences in a 111-110 win at Oklahoma City to snap a two-game slide. LaVine had 23 points in 35 minutes. Rookie Ayo Dosunmu, who has been a second-round steal, had 24 points starting for DeRozan – who should be back in there Wednesday. DeRozan leads the team in scoring at 26.3 ppg and LaVine is next at 24.9 ppg. Green is a role player who had five points Monday. The Bulls had 31 assists on 41 made shots Monday and are now 19-3 when they hand out more assists than their opponents. Chicago is 5-2 ATS in its past seven as a home favourite.
