The Lakers have opened their current six-game home stand with four straight wins, capped by Sunday’s 108-102 win over the LA Clippers and not sit alongside the Denver Nuggets in the battle for second place in the West. The Pelicans travel to LA after claiming a 128-121 win in Utah on Sunday to improve to 5-2 in their past seven overall.

The Lakers will hit the hardwood as 8.5-point home favourites on the Thursday NBA odds. The Pelicans lag as lengthy +275 underdogs on the NBA moneyline and the total is listed at 229.5.

Pelicans vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds

Thursday’s matchup marks the second of three meetings between these clubs this season. The Lakers rolled to a 104-99 win in Big Easy back on November 16, extending their current head-to-head win streak to four games and lifting them to 8-2 in their past 10 dates with New Orleans including four straight victories on home court. The Lakers have also covered in seven of their past 10 versus the Pelicans and have gone 3-1-1 in their past five against New Orleans while favoured by seven of more points, with the total going UNDER in the past four games over that stretch. The Lakers have also emerged as a defensive force during their current 6-0 run, surrendering just 101.2 points per game, fueling a 7-0 run for the UNDER in totals betting and paying out loyal sports bettors with five against the spread wins. Still buried in last place in the West with a conference-low 15 wins, the Pelicans have shown signs of life during a 5-2 run during which they have averaged 118 points per game and tallied a pair of outright wins as betting underdogs. However, New Orleans remains one of the NBA’s worst road teams with just six wins and have lost 29 of 30 on the road while pegged as underdogs by seven or more points.

New Orleans Pelicans

Zion Williamson has played a key role in the Pelicans’ recent resurgence. The bruising power forward has averaged 26.7 points per game over his past nine outings and led the team in scoring in six of their past 11 contests.  Kelly Olynyk is coming off his best performance since joining the Pelicans as part of the deal that sent Brandon Ingram to Toronto last month. Olynyk dropped a season-high 26 points in Sunday’s win over the Jazz but has failed to score 20 or more in consecutive games since last April.

Los Angeles Lakers

Luka Doncic has been a big contributor since joining the Lakers last month as part of a blockbuster deal that sent veteran Anthony Davis to Dallas. With his 29-point performance in Sunday’s win over the Clippers, Doncic has now averaged 30 points over the past two games and has recorded double-doubles in four of his past six appearances. However, Doncic is listed as question for Tuesday’s action due to a knee injury. LeBron James has clearly enjoyed playing alongside Doncic. King James has averaged 30.5 points per game over his past five outings and has recorded double-doubles in three straight outings while averaging 14 rebounds per game over that stretch.
