The New Orleans Pelicans are in Memphis looking to sweep their season series with the Grizzlies, but they’ve had little rest after their 112-110 win in Charlotte on Sunday, so this could be a tired squad.  The Grizzlies on the other hand, come into this game with an extra day’s rest, after taking down Toronto 109-99 on Saturday.

Memphis is a 9-point favourite to win on the NBA odds.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

As mentioned, the Pelicans will sweep the season series with a win on Monday.  New Orleans picked up two wins over the Grizzlies in February, a 118-109 dub at home and a 144-113 blowout on the road.

The Pelicans sit six games below .500 on the year, although they’ve managed to pull out four wins in their last six contests.  They’ve been a great cover option lately, going 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games.  The total has gone Under in eight of their last nine games.

Sitting a single game above .500, Memphis has been average this year and has gone 5-5 over their last 10 games.  They’ve been a pretty good cover option, going 40-26-1 ATS and covering in 11 of their last 15 home games.  The total has gone Under in six of the Grizzlies’ last nine games.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are still barely clinging to a chance at the playoffs thanks to a string of losses by San Antonio.  New Orleans is 1.5 games back of the Spurs for the final spot in the play-in tournament.  Even if they do make the play-in tournament, they’ll have their hands full as their two top scorers, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, are out indefinitely due to injury.  Williamson, who averages a team-high 27 points per game, has missed the last two games with a fractured finger on his dominant hand.  Ingram, who averages 23.8 points per game, has also missed the last two games as he deals with an ankle sprain.  There’s no timetable for either player’s return, but they’ll both likely miss at least the rest of the regular season.

Players like Jaxson Hayes will need to step up if the Pelicans have any shot at the playoffs.  Hayes finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals against Philadelphia on Friday.  He was also the difference-maker against Charlotte on Sunday, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and six blocks.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis is picking the wrong time to fall apart.  Although they won’t automatically make the playoffs, they’re almost guaranteed a play-in spot, but they’re losing to some of the worst teams in the NBA, lately.  Over the last two weeks, the Grizzlies have lost to the Eastern Conference’s last placed team, Detroit, as well as the East’s third-last team, Orlando.  They do, however, come into this game with a win in their last contest and another W on Monday would go a long way to securing a spot in the play-in tournament.

Ja Morant is going to need to be better if the Grizzlies want a chance to make the playoffs.  Morant did put up 37 points and 10 assists against Minnesota last Wednesday, but he followed that up with 20 points against Detroit on Thursday and just 12 points against Toronto on Saturday.
