The Los Angeles Lakers return from the All-Star break on Friday when they host the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers were struggling pretty bad before the All-Star break, losing five of their last six games. The Lakers weren’t much better either though, without Anthony Davis, winning only two of their last eight contests. Which of these teams will be able to get back on track with a win on Friday?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Pacers are 0-7 against the spread in their past seven games when facing a team with a winning straight up record, but they have a chance to improve that record in this game. Keep an eye on the Caris LeVert news, as he’s apparently practicing and getting closer to returning. He’s not likely to play in this game, though.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are 3-7 ATS in their past 10 games at home but could improve that record as well. The Lakers are still one of the best and most talented teams in the league but they can’t afford to overlook the Pacers or else it will definitely come back to hurt them in the long run.

Indiana Pacers

Even with a seeming lack of star power, the Pacers are one of those teams in the NBA due to their depth and talent spread throughout the roster. Domantas Sabonis is an All-Star and Malcolm Brogdon has played outstanding basketball this season too. Brogdon is the leader on the offensive end, putting up 21.2 points and 6.2 assists per game on an impressive 37.8 per cent from beyond the arc and 44.7 per cent from the floor. Meanwhile, Sabonis puts up 20.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest and is absolutely dominating in the painted area each and every game. This team still needs a bit more help and a guy like LeVert could make them dangerous in the East. Without him, they struggle against the elite teams.

However. with the Lakers expected to be without Davis once again, it provides the perfect opportunity for Sabonis to get inside and hurt the Lakers with his scoring ability.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are still the reigning NBA Champions and when fully healthy, they can beat anyone. However, without Davis playing, their chances of victory get slimmer. They are going to hope that a veteran like Marc Gasol is able to step up and have a decent performance to keep them in the game. After all, they still have LeBron James on their roster, who is averaging 25.6 points per game on 50 per cent shooting from the floor, as well as averaging 8.0 assists per game. Teams haven’t been able to stop James this year and having Dennis Schroeder on the floor at the same time makes it even harder. Schroeder has put up 14.9 points per game for the Lakers and has provided excellent offensive production to take pressure off of James when Davis isn’t able to suit up. Keep an eye on Montrezl Harrell, who posted some bizarre tweets during the break. If his head isn’t in the game, the Lakers will be thin up front – especially with no Davis.
