Nets vs. Pistons Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
It’ll be a matchup between two teams looking to snap losing skids, as the Brooklyn Nets head to Detroit for a showdown with the Pistons.
Brooklyn come in as 7-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 232.0.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
With a high scoring offence and unreliable defence, Brooklyn has struggled to cover, this season. The Nets are 10-15 against the spread and have only covered in three of their last 10 games. Brooklyn is much more consistent putting up points, though. The Nets have hit the Over in 18 of 25 games this season, including seven of their last eight games on the road.
The Pistons are hit-or-miss when it comes to covering. Detroit is 11-10-2 ATS, but have only covered in one of their last six home games against Brooklyn. The Pistons have hit the Over in 13 of 23 games this season, including eight of their last 12.
Brooklyn Nets
If the Nets want to get out of their mini two-game slump, they’ll need to do it without Kevin Durant for at least two more games. Durant missed Brooklyn’s losses to the Raptors on Friday and 76ers on Saturday. He has been in mandatory quarantine since having contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. As long as Durant continues to test negative, he will be eligible to return on Saturday against Golden State. Another member of the Nets’ big three, Kyrie Irving, also missed the Philly game. Irving has an injured finger, but is likely to return on Tuesday.
Without Durant and Irving, James Harden has shouldered the offensive responsibility. Despite the loss of Durant and Irving, Harden just missed dropping a triple-double in Brooklyn’s 124-108 loss to the Sixers on Saturday. Harden finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. Harden now leads the NBA in assists, averaging 11.2 assists per game. In 11 games with the Nets, Harden is averaging 23.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 10.4 assists on 46.7 per cent shooting from the floor.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons have lost four straight games, but they come into Tuesday off a competitive double overtime loss to the Lakers on Saturday. Even more impressive for Detroit, is they took L.A. to the brink on the road, where Detroit has lost 10 of 11 games this season. Jerami Grant led the way for the Pistons on Saturday. Grant finished with 32 points, while Josh Jackson had 28 points and Delon Wright had 22 points. Grant leads the team in average points per game (24.0) and blocks (1.2). Wright leads the team in assists (4.7) and steals (1.5).
The L.A. game was not an outlier for Grant, as he’s been on a tear despite the losing streak. Grant has put up 80 points over his last three games and he will likely be Detroit’s key player again on Tuesday. In 23 games for the season, Grant is averaging 24.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists on 44.7 per cent shooting from the floor.
