The Eastern Conference's top two teams are set to go head-to-head in Chicago on Wednesday night when the Bulls host the visiting Brooklyn Nets.
The Bulls have been one of the surprise teams in the NBA this season as they lead the East following a 133-87 blowout win over Detroit on Tuesday. The Nets are second in the conference, but they’ve faltered as of late and come into Chicago after dropping a 114-108 decision in Portland on Monday.
The Bulls are 2-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 232.5.
Nets vs. Bulls NBA Betting Odds
Chicago has already taken both meetings with Brooklyn this season, winning 118-95 at home and 111-107 on the road. Both games went Under the total, extending the Under streak in this head-to-head to six consecutive games. A little over 80 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors are taking the Bulls to win a third straight over the Nets, while just under 70 per cent of action is taking the Over.
The Nets have actually been better on the road than at home this season, going 14-4 outside of Brooklyn. They’ve been a terrible cover option everywhere, however, as they’re 14-24-1 against the spread overall and have failed to cover in seven straight games. The total has gone Under in seven of the Nets’ last nine games in Chicago.
The Bulls have been tough to solve for other teams as they’re 10-1 straight up in their last 11 games and 9-0 SU in their last nine at home. They’ve also been a decent cover option, going 23-15 ATS overall and 13-6 ATS at home. The total has gone Under in six of Chicago’s last nine games against Brooklyn.
Brooklyn Nets
Despite Kevin Durant‘s game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds, the Nets still lost to a Portland team missing its three best players. Kyrie Irving added 22 points and eight boards in his second game of the season. James Harden missed the game with a hyperextended left knee and is listed as probable for Wednesday. Harden’s availability could make a big difference in this game as he’s averaging 22.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounds (8.1), assists (9.7, second in NBA) and steals (1.3).
Irving, who is only eligible to play road games because of his unvaccinated status, tweaked his ankle in the fourth quarter on Monday but is expected to play in Chicago. With Irving back in the lineup, it means more rest for Durant, who has carried the team through the first part of the season. Durant averages a league-high 29.8 ppg and has scored 20 or more points in 19 straight games.
Chicago Bulls
After having a nine-game winning streak snapped by Dallas on Sunday, the Bulls put an absolute beatdown on Detroit on Tuesday, scoring a season-high 133 points. Eight Chicago players scored in double-digit figures. Nikola Vucevic led all scorers with 22 points and eight rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan added 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. The Bulls were so far ahead, they sat DeRozan for the final 16 minutes. The Bulls rested most of their regular starters in the fourth quarter in preparation for Brooklyn on Wednesday and Golden State on Friday.
DeRozan is having a career-year, averaging a team-high 26.2 ppg. Vucevic is adding 16 ppg and leads the team in rebounds (11.4) and blocks (1.1). Watch out for a response-game from Zach LaVine, who finished with a season-low 10 points against Portland. LaVine has been right there with DeRozan as one of Chicago’s most productive players this season. He is averaging 25.7 ppg, 5.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
