This will be the second matchup between these two organizations with the Nets winning the first game 122-109. Brooklyn has won five out of their last six games and now have superstar James Harden for this matchup. Can Philadelphia take down one of the best teams in the conference and prove they are serious contenders?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

If you’ve been betting Nets games this season, the easiest option has been overs. The over has now cashed in 17 of their 23 contests. The totals keep getting higher, though, but it seems like the oddsmakers can’t make them high enough.

The 76ers are 5-2 ATS and SU against teams with a winning record this season. They are also 12-5 SU against poor defensive teams allowing 106+ points per game, so this looks like a good spot for them.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets are currently 14-9 on the season but are 7-1 against top 10 teams in the league. This isn’t surprising given the amount of superstar that they have on their roster with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Harden. However, it does seem like they get up for big games and have letdowns for weaker foes. They have two losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and a loss to the Washington Wizards too. This trio is able to turn it on when they want too but can also lay back on occasion for some games.

You can expect a shootout in this matchup though as all three of these stars are expected to make it onto the court. Durant happens to lead the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks and has been shooting the ball with very high efficiency. He also leads the league in defensive three-point field percentage. However, that’s one of the few bright spots on what is otherwise an atrocious defensive team. They are allowing 117 points per game, which is 28th in the NBA.

Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia is currently at the top of the Eastern Conference standings but they are fresh off a bizarre loss. They were a 10-point favorite at home to the Damian Lillard-less Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday yet the 76ers lost outright. Joel Embiid scored 37 points but the rest of the team did almost nothing as the next-best starting was at 13 points.

In general, the shooters the 76ers added in the offseason – Danny Green and Seth Curry – have helped Ben Simmons out on the offensive end while also allowing Embiid to dominate in the paint. Embiid is averaging 28.6 points per game and 11.1 rebounds, that is enough to lead the team in both categories. But that isn’t all, their starting forward Tobias Harris has improved nicely compared to last season after being reunited with Rivers, the head coach that he was able to have his best season under before arriving in Philadelphia.

For the 76ers to win here, their defense and depth have to show up. Considering they didn’t on Thursday, it’s a good bet they rebound in this one.
