The T-Wolves avoided getting swept in the series by claiming a 105-100 victory in Game 4, but have posted just one victory in their past five appearances on home hardwood at Target Center. Vying for their first berth in the NBA Finals in over a decade, the Mavericks have emerged as road warriors during this postseason while posting wins in six of seven away dates including each of their past four.

In the wake of their Game 4 victory, the Timberwolves arrive home perched as 4.5-point favourites on the NBA Game 5 odds, but sit well off the pace on the NBA series prices as +425 underdogs. The Mavericks lead the way as -550 chalk to eventually win this series, and the total for Thursday’s matchup is pegged at 209.5.

The Timberwolves turned in their strongest defensive performance of the series in Game 4, with the UNDER also prevailing for the first time. Overall, the Timberwolves have thrived in low-scoring contests. The top defensive team in the NBA during the regular season, the T-Wolves have won and covered in each of their six playoff games to date in which the UNDER has paid out. For the Mavericks, Tuesday’s defeat snapped a five-game win streak, However, Dallas has been a reliable bet when sporting positive odds, winning outright in each of their past four, and covering in nine of their past 12 overall.

Dallas Mavericks

Once again, Luka Doncic led the attack for the Mavericks in Game 4, piling up 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists to record his fifth triple-double in eight games. However, the nagging ankle and knee injuries he has been nursing throughout the postseason don’t seem to be getting any better, forcing the club to list their superstar as questionable for Thursday night. The absence of Doncic would be devastating for the Mavs, who were otherwise held in check by the T-Wolves in Game 4. Kyrie Irving was limited to just 16 points on 33% shooting while PJ Washington mustered just 10 points on 3-for-12 shooting. However, Irving has enjoyed steady success at Target center, where he averaged 25 points in Games 1 and 2. Dereck Lively II continues to nurse a neck injury and is listed as questionable for Game 5.

Minnesota Timberwolves

After struggling to find the target earlier in the series, Anthony Edwards turned in his best performance of the West Finals on Tuesday night, falling just short a triple-double with 29, points, 10 boards, and nine helpers. The challenge for Edwards is to maintain that momentum at home, where he shot just 33% and averaged just 20 points in the first two games of the series. Veteran Mike Conley was a valuable contributor in Game 4, tallying 14 points and seven helpers. Conley has averaged 16 points and 5.3 assists over the past three games but remains bothered by an achilles injury as a game-time decision.
