While this doesn’t bode well for the Los Angeles Clippers, they were able to take Game 6 on the road behind the excellence of Kawhi Leonard. Leonard dropped 45 points to help force a Game 7 and he’ll be looking to put the team on his back once again. However, they still have to worry about Luka Doncic on the other end, who has had a few huge games in this series. Which of these teams will be able to force their way into the second round?

Mavericks vs. Clippers NBA Playoff Odds

Dallas 7-0 ATS in their past seven games on the road when playing a team with a home winning percentage over .600 on the season. Interestingly enough, the under is 23-7 when they’re a dog this season.

The Clippers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. They are just 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games where the series is tied.

Dallas Mavericks

It was just the second time in Rick Carlisle’s history as the Dallas Mavericks head coach that they lost a close-out game. Doncic put up 29 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in Game 6 as he did everything in his power to control the pace of the game. He just didn’t get enough help from the supporting cast with Kristaps Porzingis continuing to be a non factor here in the postseason. In 31 minutes, he totaled just seven points, five rebounds and three assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 23 points but that was about it. The bench chipped in a measly 15 points. As a result, Dallas didn’t even make it to the 100-point mark.

If Dallas wants to win this series, Porzingis – and the rest of the cast – will have to do more. Doncic will do all he can but he clearly can’t do this on his own.

Los Angeles Clippers

Maybe for the first time this series, Kawhi Leonard was the best player on the court. He did not want to get sent home in the first round and it showed in Game 6. It seemed like he was taking and making every shot he took in the fourth quarter – possibly stung from the fact that he airballed a game-tying shot in Game 6.

Paul George ended up added on 20 points of his own with 13 rebounds to go with Kawhi’s 45 and Reggie Jackson had 25 points – 14 of which were scored in the first quarter. The starting lineup was fantastic a few nights ago and chances are they will need to be once more if they want to advance. This team will badly need an efficient night out of both George and Leonard if they want to move on.
