Orlando Magic
It came down to the wire, but the Magic couldn’t get it done in their two-point loss to the Clippers on Saturday. Former Toronto Raptor Terrance Ross had a chance to win it for Orlando, but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Ross had 22 points off the bench and made all 13 of his free-throw attempts. Cole Anthony led the team with 23 points and six rebounds, hitting five 3-pointers. Anthony averages team-highs in points per game (20.4) and assists (5.7). German rookie Franz Wagner finished with 20 points. It was Wagner’s fourth 20+ point game of the season. Wagner averages 14.1 ppg and a team-high 1.1 steals. Wendell Carter Jr. had a game-high 14 rebounds and reached 1,000 career defensive rebounds in the game. Carter averages 13 ppg and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers beat the Thunder for the first time in three games this season, thanks to the efforts of LeBron James, who missed the previous two OKC games. James put up 33 points on 13-of-20 shooting and also added five rebounds and six assists. He’s averaging a team-high 26 ppg and 1.9 steals. With Anthony Davis out of the lineup, Avery Bradley stepped up, making six of eight 3-pointers and finishing with a season-high 22 points. Davis, who averages 24 points per game, with team-highs in rebounds (10.2) and blocks (2.2), missed Friday’s game with knee soreness. He’s considered day-to-day and will be a game-time decision on Sunday.
