With LeBron James and Anthony Davis out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, it will be up to the trio of Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma to keep this Lakers team together.

The Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers will be meeting up for the first time this season on Sunday with very different teams compared to the start of the season. The Magic made a flurry of moves at the trade deadline, holding a fire sale as they have lost 12 out of their past 14 contests. Meanwhile, the Lakers were finally able to snap a four-game losing streak on Friday by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-86. Will the Lakers get themselves back on track or will Orlando pick up an upset win?

The Lakers are 6.5-point favourites on the NBA odds with a total of 208.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Magic are 6-1 against the spread in their past seven matchups against teams with a winning straight up record and they can increase that number in this game. While they don’t look very good on paper, the Lakers will be without their two big stars.

On the other hand, the under is 5-1 in the Lakers last six games overall and that could very well improve again. This team hasn’t scored nearly as much without LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the lineup.

Orlando Magic

The Magic are in no position to win basketball games right now. They got rid of most of their starting lineup at the trade deadline, so all that they have left on their roster is young and unproven talent. While they were able to perform pretty well in their last game, it still wasn’t enough to pick up the win. Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon are all on different teams now, leaving guys like Dwayne Bacon, Michael Carter-Williams, James Ennis III and Chuma Okeke to carry the load offensively. It is hard to tell how well they will be able to play given the fact that they have only really one had full game together now that so many roster spots have opened up. The Lakers are banged up but the Magic are essentially a G-League affiliate these days.

Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles was finally able to pick up their first win without LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the lineup. It was getting pretty bad for them as it didn’t seem like the chemistry and scoring were there without the two superstars. Both of them will be out once again for this game against the Magic but they still have a pretty significant talent difference here. The trio of Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma should be able to put this team ahead early on and not look back. They have also gotten solid production out of guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Talen Horton-Tucker as they have each pitched in 8.0 points per game. The Magic are in full-on tank mode, so that should allow the Lakers to cruise to a comfortable win here – even without the All-Stars.
