Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction, NBA Odds
The 2025-26 NBA regular season has already had plenty of action. One of the more intriguing matchups on Wednesday’s slate features the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder in a battle between two Western Conference teams that should be poised to make deep runs in the postseason next spring.
OKC is a 6.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 231.5.
Lakers vs. Thunder NBA Betting Odds
These teams are among the best in the Western Conference this season, but Oklahoma City is still the dominant team in this game, according to market perception. The Thunder have been absolutely rolling and carry an 11-1 record, but it’s the Lakers that have quietly put together the better record against the spread in 2025.
Oklahoma City was an against-the-spread darling last year, and the Thunder are 7-5 against the number this season. On the other side, the Lakers are a whopping 8-3 against the spread, and they have successfully covered the number in five of six games on the road.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers got off to a rocky start to the 2025-26 campaign, and it looked like it was going to be a long season for Los Angeles. However, they’ve been on an upward trajectory since that point, having won six of their last seven games. It all starts with the play of Luka Doncic, as the star Los Angeles guard has averaged 37.1 points per game, to go along with 9.4 rebounds, and 9.1 assists.
Outside of Doncic, the other Lakers are performing well, even without the services of LeBron James. With that in mind, it’s certainly possible that the success of this Los Angeles offence (ranked eighth in offensive rating) can carry over into this game, even against a defence of the caliber of what Oklahoma City has to offer.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The defending champions have looked the part to this point, and that shouldn’t be a surprise given that Oklahoma City was expected to win 65+ games coming into the season. The Thunder won the first eight games of the campaign before falling to Portland for their first loss last week. However, that didn’t bother Oklahoma City, as it proceeded to rattle off three consecutive wins, including a 24-point win against the Warriors last night.
It appears that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder have maintained their excellent defence and competitive edge even after winning a title. As long as the Thunder put forth a solid team effort in this one, the floor of this team is high enough that they should win this contest at home, even against a difficult opponent.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Lakers vs. Thunder?
This is a pretty compelling matchup on paper, one that the Lakers should be able to keep close if they play with focus and intention. Even though the Thunder have been dominant this season, especially at home, Oklahoma City should come back down to earth a bit on Wednesday.
Look for Oklahoma City to win by a very narrow margin, but it wouldn’t shock me at all if the Lakers pulled off the outright upset. The Thunder win this one 116-113.
