L.A. is one of the hottest teams in the NBA as they pushed their win streak to eight games with a 113-109 overtime victory against the Knicks on Thursday. The Celtics are coming off a 123-105 rout of Philadelphia as they look to gear up for another long playoff run.

Boston opened as a slim 3.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds.

Lakers vs. Celtics NBA Betting Odds

The Lakers took the first meeting of the year, 117-96, on Jan. 23. Of course, that was before the Luka Doncic trade and L.A. has only looked better since adding the Slovenian superstar.

The way the standings sit now, this could be a potential NBA Finals matchup as both teams are second in their respective conferences. The Celtics broke a tie with L.A. when they won their 18th NBA championship last year, so history would be on the line if the teams met in the Finals.

Speaking of the NBA Finals, Boston is currently a +225 co-favourite, along with OKC, to win again in 2025. The Lakers have jumped up to +1200 on the NBA futures board, trailing only the Celtics, Thunder and Cavaliers (+600).

Los Angeles Lakers

Luka Doncic and LeBron James look absolutely lethal at the moment. Luka dropped 32 points and 12 assists against the Knicks, while LeBron finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds as the Lakers improved to 9-2 since Luka’s debut on Feb. 10. Both players have hit 30 points in three of their last four games. Over L.A.’s eight-game win streak, Luka is averaging nearly a triple-double (27.7 points, 9.3 assists, 8.3 rebounds) and LeBron is scoring close to 30 points a night.

Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum had a monster performance against the 76ers, dropping 35 points and seven rebounds as Boston won for the ninth time in their last 11 games. It was Tatum’s 24th game this season with at least 30 points despite him sitting out the entire fourth quarter. The Celtics were playing without Jaylen Brown (knee), Jrue Holiday (finger), Al Horford (toe), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Sam Hauser (ankle). With a list that long, it’s worth keeping an eye on the injury report for Saturday.
