After another eventful offseason filled with plenty of drama and storylines, the 2025-26 NBA season is roughly a month old, and we’ve already seen enough exciting games and jaw-dropping performances to last an entire season.
One of the more intriguing matchups on Wednesday’s slate features the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks in a battle between two teams that are in different spots at this point in the campaign.
With tip-off set at 9:40 p.m. ET, let’s get into the odds and betting trends, plus my predictions for this contest.
Knicks vs. Mavericks NBA Betting Odds
New York is a 4.5-point favourite on the road in this game, with the total listed at 230.5 on the NBA odds, as oddsmakers are expecting more offence than not tonight.
Dallas has not exactly been an against-the-spread darling thus far, with the Mavericks sitting at 6-9 ATS to this point. On the other side, the Knicks are 8-5 against the number. New York is 9-4 to the Over through 13 games, while the Mavericks are 9-6 to the Under.

The Knicks were expected to be among the elite in the NBA this season, and New York has certainly looked the part on offence to this point. Even with Jalen Brunson missing the last couple of games, the supporting cast has looked noticeably improved from last season, thanks to some offseason acquisitions and a change in philosophy from new head coach Mike Brown.
The Knicks’ concerns at the moment are on defence, as shown by their propensity to play plenty of high-scoring games. However, New York has still been able to beat several quality opponents while still learning this new offence, and the Knicks should be primed for a bounce-back game against the Mavericks following a tough two-point defeat at the hands of the Heat a few days ago.
Dallas Mavericks
As for the hosts, Dallas has been up-and-down to this point in the season, and given the fact that Anthony Davis is injured and the Mavericks don’t have a lot to turn to on offence, a lot of the production rests on the shoulders of a rookie. Cooper Flagg has slowly come into his own in recent weeks, but the rest of the Dallas offence needs some work. Only time will tell if the Mavericks can put it together on that end.
The Dallas defence has been a great unit to this point, but this will be one of the toughest offences it has faced thus far, even with Brunson’s status still uncertain for this game. I expect that the Knicks will attempt to tire out Dallas with their pace, and I lean towards a higher-scoring contest as a result.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Knicks vs. Mavericks?
Both teams are pretty intriguing on paper, but I have slightly more confidence in the Knicks to get things done on the road, especially following a disappointing loss. Dallas is certainly a team to look out for in the Western Conference down the road, but for this season, this game still feels like a bit of a mismatch. Even if Brunson doesn’t play, I’ll target the Knicks to come away with a victory in the range of 118-110.
