The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the Western Conference will meet on Wednesday but surprisingly, neither of these teams are from Los Angeles. While those two teams are still favored to win the conference, it’s the No. 1-seeded Utah Jazz and No. 2-seeded Phoenix Suns who clash on Wednesday.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jazz are just 1-6 ATS in their past seven games on the road against a team with a winning home record. It’s one of the few spots where they’ve shown weakness considering they have been solid straight up and against the spread.

Phoenix has been 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games when coming in as the underdog. Of course, they’ve been a dog many times this season and have surprised the oddsmakers quite a bit.

Utah Jazz

Utah has arguably been the most dominant team in the NBA so far this season and they have done it with team chemistry and high efficiency. Donovan Mitchell has been putting together a fantastic season as the main offensive focal point, averaging 25.2 points and 5.4 assists per game while Mike Conley pitches on 16.6 points and 5.5 assists per contest. Rudy Gobert has completely locked down the painted area for the team on the defensive end, averaging 2.9 blocks and 13.2 rebounds per game and has positioned himself to be a top candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award.

This team has excellent depth as well as Jordan Clarkson comes off the bench to average 17.3 points and is the leading candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. He provides a constant spark to the second unit when he comes onto the floor. Utah is well-rounded and has superb chemistry that makes them tough to take down any game.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns have been a huge surprise this season. The addition of Chris Paul has taken this team to a new level as he’s helped create open looks for his teammates and take a lot of offensive pressure away from Devin Booker. Paul has averaged 16.0 points and 8.8 assists per game while Booker piles in 25.9 points and 4.6 assists per contest. Phoenix has also gotten terrific production out of two bench players in Dario Saric and Cameron Johnson the past few weeks, giving them a lot more freedom in their rotations.

One of the most important players on the team in this matchup will be DeAndre Ayton, as he has been great for the team this year by averaging 14.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. He will have his hands full against Gobert but if he hold his own, the Suns are more likely to secure the win.
