The two-game weekend series marks a crucial stretch for each L.A. club. For the Clippers, a 2-0 sweep could get them into range of catching the Lakers and several of the other top five teams in the West — not to mention give the Clippers some breathing room from the play-in teams gaining steam. A 111-102 win last night against Minnesota has the Lakers on a four-game win streak A pair of wins this weekend could solidify their top-five spot in the West and then some.

Tip-off at Crypto.com Arena gets going at 10 p.m. EST with the Clippers opening as a 3.5-point favourite on the spread and the total at 220.5 on the NBA odds.

Clippers vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds

The Clippers have come out on top in 13 of their last 17 meetings with the Lakers. It’s been difficult for the Lakers to even cover against the Clippers; in these teams last 14 meetings the Lakers are 2-12 ATS. But the recent trends are more in favour of the Lakers, who are 9-1 outright in their last 10 home outings. The Clippers have not covered in five straight games too.

Nine of the last 12 Clippers games have finished over the total, but the under has hit in five straight Lakers games. Since the All-Star break, none of the Lakers five opponents have gone over 102 points. The Clippers have put 120 points in four of their last seven outings.

Los Angeles Clippers

Albeit both of this weekend’s game acting as road games for the Clippers, they are returning home after a tough five-game road stretch. The 2-3 trip ended on a high note for the Clippers though, as they most recently won 122-117 against Chicago. Kawhi Leonard returned to the Clippers lineup after a two-game absence (foot) and dropped 17 points and eight rebounds. James Harden led the way with 30 points, leading the Clippers in scoring for their third straight game. The Clippers remain a bottom-10 scoring team with just over 110 points per contest.

Kawhi will be available for the Clippers Friday, which naturally is good news. The Clippers are 11-6 with Leonard in the lineup this season but the flip side of the good news is he’s only played in 17 of their 58 contests. Norman Powell (knee) has been upgraded to questionable for Friday.

Los Angeles Lakers

The LeBron James and Luka Doncic show in L.A. keeps chugging along. LeBron led the way last night with a game-high 33 points and 17 rebounds, the latter trying a season-high for James. Doncic notched 21 points in the win and recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds. The Lakers are 4-2 with Doncic in the lineup, and 14-3 overall since January 21.

LeBron’s made some more history over this run for the Lakers too, becoming the first player in NBA history to record five-straight games of 25-plus points at the age of 40. This Lakers team still runs through James, but with Doncic as another number one option… the sky is the limit.
