In case you had forgotten how dangerous the Los Angeles Clippers are with their best two players in the lineup, they wasted no time reminding the basketball world last time out between these teams. The Clippers will look for a second consecutive one-sided victory as they visit the New York Knicks in a Sunday afternoon showdown at Madison Square Garden. The Clippers celebrated the return of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George with a 116-90 rout of the Orlando Magic on Friday.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Oddsmakers are back on the Clippers’ bandwagon, making them 8.5-point favourites despite playing a rare East Coast afternoon game. And bettors are right there with them, as 69 percent of Sports Interaction respondents are siding with the visitors. Los Angeles has covered six of its previous eight games despite having to do without Leonard and George for part of that span. The Knicks are also playing well, having gone 5-2 against the spread in their last seven.

The total for Sunday’s encounter is low by today’s NBA standards, at 213 – but that’s no surprise given both teams rank in the bottom-five league-wide in average pace. That hasn’t deterred Sports Interaction bettors from leaning toward the Over at a 72-percent clip. The public might want to be careful here, though: The Knicks are 13-4 to the Under in their last 17 games, while the Clippers have cashed the Under in four of their last six outings.

Los Angeles Clippers

No longer bound by the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Leonard and George had little trouble carving up the Magic defence en route to 50 combined points in just 57 total minutes. And that should be the way of the future for the Clippers, at least when there isn’t a back-to-back involved. The sensational duo averages 49.8 points for the season, with both players shooting better than 50 percent from the field on the season.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are led by their own talented pairing – but could there already be a little tread off their tires? RJ Barrett and Julius Randle combine to average 40 points per game for New York, but are also ranked in the top-five league-wide in minutes played. Only the Pacers duo of Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis average more minutes per game – and with so many back-to-backs in the condensed schedule, that extra playing time could come at a cost.
