The Boston Celtics might have their second-leading scorer back in the lineup Tuesday – and the timing couldn’t be better as they visit the red-hot Utah Jazz. Jaylen Brown is questionable to return after sitting out the previous two games with a knee injury. His 26.4 points per game average will really come in handy against a Jazz team that has gone 15-1 straight up (and 14-1-1 against the spread) in its last 16 games to vault to the top of the NBA pecking order.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jazz are 5.5-point home favourites to win on the NBA odds, as they look to extend the hottest streak by any team in the NBA so far, this season. By any measure, Utah has been the best team in the league from both a performance and betting perspective, boasting a 17-6-1 ATS record for the season (including an 8-2-1 mark at home). Sports Interaction bettors, on the other hand, aren’t entirely sold, with just 55 percent leaning toward the Jazz to cover on Tuesday night.

The total has generated a much more overwhelming response from bettors, with 83 percent of respondents on the O220 side. Boston has played plenty of low-scoring games of late (2-5 O/U in its last seven) but has exceeded the total in 12 of its previous 17 visits to Salt Lake City. Utah, meanwhile, has finished under the number in six of its last seven meetings with teams from the Atlantic Division, most recently in a 108-94 win over the Knicks on Jan. 26.

Boston Celtics

Brown’s return is essential for the Celtics to have any hope of remaining competitive in this game. With Marcus Smart out indefinitely, Kemba Walker on a minutes restriction and no one else capable of helping Jayson Tatum with the scoring burden, Boston is in danger of being blown out if Brown sits again. The Celtics are coming off one of their worst offensive showings of the season in a 100-91 loss to the host Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

Utah Jazz

Utah has been racking up the double-digit victories en route to the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference – but the degree of difficulty could be a little higher this time around. Point guard Mike Conley will sit out Tuesday’s game with a hamstring injury, leaving the Jazz without one of the biggest contributors to their sizzling start. Look for Shaquille Harrison to pick up the bulk of the playing time in Conley’s absence, with Jordan Clarkson also seeing more run.
