The Boston Celtics are going to get a chance to get back in the win column when they head to Charlotte on Sunday for an afternoon matchup with the struggling Hornets.  Boston dropped a tough 109-104 decision to Brooklyn on Friday, while Charlotte’s 108-102 W over Cleveland was just their second win in their last eight games.

The Celtics opened as 7.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 215.5.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

With a healthier roster, Boston has turned things around this season and they come into Sunday with nine wins in their last 12 games.  They’re 30-30 against the spread and they’ve covered in six of their last seven road games.  The total has gone Under in 11 of Boston’s last 15 games.

Charlotte is trending in the opposite direction and have dropped six of their last eight games.  The Hornets have been a brutal cover option when they play Boston as they’re 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games against the Celtics.  The Over has hit in six of the last nine games between these teams.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics will get a big boost to their lineup when Jaylen Brown returns on Sunday after sitting out the last two games with a shoulder injury.  The tandem of Brown and Jayson Tatum has been huge for Boston all season.  They’ve actually been the highest scoring teammate duo in the NBA with a combined 2,558 points.  In Brown’s absence against the Nets on Friday, Tatum finished with a game-high 38 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the loss.  He nailed six of 12 shots from beyond the arc.  Kemba Walker is also expected to return for this game after sitting out against the Nets more due to load management than actual injury.

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte has been riddled with injuries all season, but they’re still securely in a play-in tournament spot, sitting in eighth in the Eastern Conference.  They had a trio of players go off in Friday’s win over Cleveland.  Miles Bridges, PJ Washington and Terry Rozier each finished with 25 points.  It was another big performance for Rozier, who has found another gear lately, averaging more than 25 points over his last five games.  Along with Golden State’s Steph Curry, L.A.’s Paul George, and Chicago’s Zach LaVine, Rozier is one of only four players to have a stat line of 20+ points, 3+ 3-pointers and 40+ 3-point percentage per game this season.
