Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons Prediction, NBA Odds

The Chicago Bulls are on the verge of falling all the way down to the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, which is surprising as this was a top-spot contender early in the year.

This is a squad that has lost their last five contests heading into Wednesday’s date with the Detroit Pistons, who are the second-worst team in the East. But the Pistons have more momentum as they have won three straight and four of five.

Will Chicago finally be able to get back on track or will the Pistons get the upset here?

Bulls vs. Pistons NBA Betting Odds

Chicago has had their struggles but rarely as a favorite. They are 40-18-1 ATS in their last 59 games when listed as the chalk. Although, the Bulls have failed to cover in four straight following a straight up loss, so they have a tendency to snowball momentum in the wrong direction. When it comes to the total, the Bulls have watched the over cash out in five of their last six games against teams with a winning percentage less than .400.

The Pistons have covered eight straight overall, so they’ve been money in the bank lately. They have also covered four straight at home, so they might be a live dog here.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls have really struggled this season against good teams. After their most recent loss, they stand 0-14 against the top three seeds in both the Eastern and Western Conference. Luckily, the Pistons rank towards the bottom of the barrel in terms of overall record.

Injuries will continue to play a large factor in Chicago’s success in this game. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are their best two defensive players and yet neither has played in a few weeks now. Nikola Vucevic got added onto the injury report himself with a hamstring injury and is questionable to play. At least they still have DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan is having a resurgent season, averaging 28.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game – maybe even positioning himself nicely in the MVP race. The challenge is that this roster is sapped and it’s hampering them. With a few players still missing and his team on a losing skid, they might not be a good investment as a road fav.

Detroit Pistons

While it may be easy to get distracted by the Pistons recent hot streak – winning four of their last five – it is important to note that none of those teams are among the top six seeds in the conference. The Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks all reside at least two seeds lower than their upcoming opponent, the Bulls. Detroit is a young team with an average age of 23.8 and an average of 2.6 years of experience in the league. They have leaned on Jerami Grant to get things done on the offensive end by providing 19.1 points per game. However, Cade Cunningham is slowly starting to see the ball go into his hands more. The No. 1 overall draft pick has been more confident lately and averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists throughout his last week of play. It isn’t a surprise that the Pistons are winning more because of it. Look for him to be a major factor.
