Bucks vs. Spurs Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread

Jeremy Perry | Updated May 09, 2021

The Bucks have been playing well as the season winds down and it’s in their best interest to keep it going. Entering Sunday’s action, they were a half-game back of the Brooklyn Nets for the second seed in the conference and 3.5 games back of the East-leading Philadelphia 76ers.

The Milwaukee Bucks have just five games left in their regular season and the next one on deck is a Monday night visit to the San Antonio Spurs. The Bucks are on a roll right now as they’ve won five straight and 11 of their last 15 contests. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs are fading at the wrong time, clinging to the 10th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Bucks are a big road favourite in this spot, but can they take care of business and cover? Let’s take a closer look.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bucks are 43-20 straight up as a favourite this season, but they are just 31-32 against the spread in those games. They are 19-12 SU as a road favourite, but only 14-17 ATS.

The Spurs are a miserable home team as they are just 13-20 at the AT&T Center. They’ve been a home underdog 14 times this season and while they are 5-9 straight up, they are 7-7 against the spread.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have been playing well as the season winds down and it’s in their best interest to keep it going. Entering Sunday’s action, they were a half-game back of the Brooklyn Nets for the second seed in the conference and 3.5 games back of the East-leading Philadelphia 76ers. They’re not likely to catch the 76ers but finishing above the Nets – the team that’s favoured to win the Eastern Conference – could be important in the playoffs.

The Bucks have been on a tear as of late but they can always throw up a stinker at any point. As mentioned, they’ve won 11 of 15 but two of the losses were to the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. This team is 24-10 at home but is far more vulnerable on the road at 19-14.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are playing some of their worst basketball of the year right now. Currently, they sit in 10th place in the standings and in previous years, they wouldn’t be in playoff consideration. However, with the new play-in format, they’ll still have a chance – if they can cling to their final spot. It won’t be easy as their remaining five games are all against teams that are going to the playoffs, including the Bucks, Phoenix Suns (twice), Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.

The Spurs offence is nowhere to be found these days as they’re averaging just 102 points per game over their last four. This isn’t something new as they rank 21st in the NBA in points per game at 110.7. It’s clearly visible that they have dropped well below that. There just isn’t enough star power on this team as DeMar DeRozan leads the way with 21.4 points per game.

There are eight players who score in double-figures but nobody that consistently threatens an opposing defence. They’ll have a tough time against a Bucks defence that is fifth in the NBA in opponent field goal percentage.
