The Milwaukee Bucks will be going head-to-head against the Houston Rockets on Thursday in what the oddsmakers expect to be a lopsided affair. Milwaukee has won three out of their last four contests and sit among the top of the Eastern Conference with a 38-23 record. Meanwhile, the Rockets are on a five-game losing streak and have lost 17 of their last 20 games. Houston is dead-last in the league with a 15-47 record. Milwaukee are heavy favourites on the NBA odds, but let’s see how these two teams match up.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bucks are 5-1 against the spread in their past six games when playing against a team with a winning percentage below .400 on the season. They’ve generally handled losing teams pretty well this season. The question is, can they cover? They are 2-6 ATS on the season when laying 12.5 or more.

On the other hand, the under is 4-1 in the Rockets last five games overall. They are shorthanded in terms of talent and have just shutdown John Wall for the year, so their offence has been shaky.

Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee has proven to be a force when healthy this year. Their trio of stars have been showing out this season and their record is proof of that. Reigning MVP of the league, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is having himself quite the year, averaging 28.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and six assists per game, while his counterparts Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton are providing solid numbers of their own. Holiday averages 17.2 points and Middleton puts up 20.1 per game. The Bucks have been inconsistent at times but have won and covered three of their last four. They’re also matching up against a tanking Houston team that can’t seem to win a single game. The Bucks will very likely come away with the win here, but can they cover the big number?

Houston Rockets

The Rockets just lost arguably the best player left on their team due to a hamstring injury. John Wall was ruled out for the remainder of the season, just a few days ago, further sinking this team into the depths of the Association. It’s hard to believe how far they’ve fallen after being a championship contender with Russell Westbrook and James Harden just last season.

Christian Wood will be active for this matchup and he’ll have to lead the way, as he averages 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. When active, he has been their best player outside of Wall. He will be looking for anybody to step up and help him on both ends of the court in this contest, against such a talented Milwaukee team. Jae’Sean Tate has been good recently, putting up 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, but will need to do more to help out.

Overall, this Houston team doesn’t look like they have a chance against Milwaukee on paper, but if they want to win, they will need to come out with an unmatchable level of intensity.
