The Jazz have been on an absolute tear and given what they’ve done of late, bettors might want to think twice before betting against them. Let’s take a closer look at this highly-anticipated matchup.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The 76ers are have been a reliable bet when facing teams with a winning record this season. They are 7-4 straight and against the spread when facing teams above .500.

The Jazz are on fire right now as they have won six in a row while covering all six contests. On top of that, they’ve actually covered the spread in 17 of their last 19 games, which is an incredible run.

Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers have been one of the surprise teams in the NBA this season. After a disappointing postseason showing in Brett Brown’s final year, Doc Rivers has come in and given this team new life. They’re 18-9 on the year and have a 1.5-game lead in the East.

The 76ers have been fading a little bit of late, though, and that’s a concern if you’re betting them in this spot. They had a stretch where they won nine of 12 but since then, they are just 2-3 in their last five games. They’re in the midst of a four-game, West Coast road trip and Monday’s game will be their third in five days.

Center Joel Embiid has emerged as an MVP candidate as he’s averaging 29.6 points per game (third in the NBA) along with 10.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals. His 31.19 PER is the best in the league. The question is who steps up to help him on a nightly basis? The Sixers have lost two straight as the bench has contributed an average of 18.5 points per game. They’ll likely need more on Monday.

Utah Jazz

The Jazz are on fire right now as they’ve covered the spread in 17 of their last 19 games. In real-world terms, they’ve won 22 of their 27 games so far this season and have a one-game lead on the Los Angeles Lakers for the top seed in the West.

The Jazz are a healthy 12-2 at home this season and a lot of that has to do with defense. They have the second-best defensive efficiency rating at home as they’re allowing a league-best 104.5 points per game at the Vivint Arena.

This matchup will be interesting as we’ll see Rudy Gobert, who is one of the best defensive players in the league, going up against Embiid. If the Jazz can clamp down on him, their path to victory should be much easier.
