NASCAR Odds & Predictions: Geico 500

The Geico 500 marks the sixth major Sunday NASCAR series race since competition resumed. Last weekend, the pole setter Denny Hamlin scored his third win of the season claiming the checkered flag at the Dixie Vodka 400. His first was earlier in the year at the Daytona 500 to start the NASCAR season.

Racing Analysis

World famous Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama will be the site for the Geico 500. The course is 500.8 miles, 188 laps and will be the 102^nd race hosted by this speedway. It’s known for the largest oval on the NASCAR schedule.

Hamlin is one the favourites to win his fourth race of the season. He is paying +1000 at Sports Interaction. The Joe Gibbs racing star has six top-10 finishes at Talladega in his last 12 races. He also won on this track back in 2014.

Chase Elliott is the defending champion of the Geico 500. Last year he led for 45 laps of the race and finished ahead of Alex Bowman. Elliott is chalked at +1000 to win on Sunday afternoon.

Brad Keselowski (+1000) might be a driver to watch on Sunday. Keselowski has an amazing five wins in 22 races at Talladega. He also has two wins this season and is fourth in NASCAR points with 412, just 51 points back of leader Kevin Harvick.

An interesting dark horse selection in this race is veteran Clint Bowyer. Bowyer is a two-time winner on the track (2010, 2011). Be cautious on this selection, Bowyer has not won a race this season and only has three top-10 finishes in 12 races in 2020. Bowyer is list at +2000 to win.

Prediction

Joey Logano is a three-time winner here at the popular Alabama track. He has been all over most racing categories including second in overall laps lad (480), second in quality passes (708) and fourth in average driver rating (99.7).

Logano has sixth top-10 finishes this season, three top-five finishes, along with two wins in this 2020 NASCAR season.
