UFC Fight Night Austin Odds, Prediction: Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green
Moreover, not only are Jalin Turner and Bobby Green from that same state, but each hails from San Bernardino. Hopefully they’ll get to make it to the event in one piece. As recently as during Wednesday’s media presser, Bobby Green’s team alleged that he was “attacked” by someone associated with fellow UFC combatant Arman Tsarukyan’s group. We shall see what comes of this.
Back to the issue at hand. The younger Turner is pegged at -200 on the MMA odds, whereas Green is priced at +165.

The 28-year-old is a last-minute replacement for fighter Dan Hooker. The latter sustained an injury that will prevent him from partaking in the evening’s fisticuffs. The plot twist has a ring of irony insofar as all year long Turner and Hooker have had a history together. In March at UFC 285 Turner and Hooker were supposed to butt heads but Hooker’s hand was too banged up. He was replaced by Mateusz Gamrot, who got the better of Jalin Turner via split decision.
The two parties finally got down to business in July at UFC 290 but even that had a wrinkle when Turner came in two pounds over the limit at the weigh-in, thus giving Hooker 20 per cent of his purse. Worse, he lost that fight, also via a split decision. In that sense, it’s funny that Turner should be the one replacing Hooker now.
He’s a tall brawler, coming in at 6 feet and three inches. As one can imagine this provides him with a considerable arm reach at 77 inches (Green’s is only 71). Even the leg reach is superior at 46 inches to 40. The one they call “Tarantula” likes his wins with KO and TKO stamps on them. That happens 69 per cent of the time, with the remaining 31 per cent via submission. Significant strikes come at 5.82 every minute, but he also absorbs a decent 4.61. He doesn’t grapple as much as Green (0.92 per 15 minutes to 1.21) but his accuracy is greater (55 per cent to 37).

Green, by his age and record, is the seasoned vet in this instance. His 31-14-1 record has many stories to tell of glory and guts. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt wearer has had a busy year for that matter. This weekend’s event is already his fourth in the same calendar year.
His momentum began in April at UFC Fight Night 222 against Jared Gordon. The bout was decided in the very first round thanks to a knockout. That was followed up by a successful arm-triangle choke of Tony Ferguson in July at UFC 291. The three-round victory impressed onlookers enough to award him Performance of the Night honours. Most recently, he bested Grant Dawson in October during UFC Fight Night 229 with a KO in the initial round.
We’ve established that Green possesses no advantage regarding arm or leg reaches, but his methods of victory are far more diverse. It’s nearly an even split between KO/TKO at 35 per cent, submissions at 29 per cent, and judges’ decisions at another 35 per cent. He also doesn’t mind taking more time vanquishing his foes, with his average fight time being 11:33 to Turner’s 7:31. He can swing and kick his way to major strikes too, even more so than Turner, averaging 6.15 every 60 seconds. He also takes fewer licks, only 3.66 and helps himself with a much better defence of 62 per cent to Turner’s 41.
