It’s young versus old in this lightweight matchup. Well, “old” sounds a bit derogatory. Young vs a crafty veteran of the UFC circuit. Hooper has been in the UFC since 2019, whereas Guida has been battling and bruising since 2003. They’ll collide on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in a prelim.

Our UFC 310 odds heavily favour Hooper in this tilt, and we mean heavily. He’s currently pegged at -1111 to Guida’s +675!

Chase Hooper UFC 310 Odds

25 years old and hailing from Enumclaw, Washington, the 6-foot-1 (185 cm), 155 lb (70 kg) Hooper comes with a 13-3-1 professional record. He also carries a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In his relatively short time as a fighter at the highest level, he’s done away with many opponents.

He’s most recently strung together a trio of wins, starting with a unanimous decision that went his way at UFC Fight Night 223 in May 2023 against Nick Fiore. Then came a rear-choke submission on Jordan Leavitt in November 2023 at UFC Fight Night 232. His last time in the octagon was this past May at UFC on ESPN 56 when he not only knocked down Viacheslav Borshchev but eventually pinned him into submission in the sophomore round.

To that point, a healthy 50 per cent of his victories are earned via submission, something to keep in mind. The balance is shared between KO/TKO (29 per cent) and decisions (21 per cent). He deals with his opponents a bit more quickly than Guida, averaging 10:19 to 12:26 per fight.

He’s no stranger to significant hits, given his average of 5.08 per 60 seconds. It largely surpasses the 3.33 he eats every minute. His significant strike percentage is a decent 52 per cent.

Clay Guida UFC 310 Odds

On the other end of the spectrum is Guida, a seasoned vet with probably enough MMA war stories to make a 10-hour-long documentary. Originally from Round Lake, Illinois, the 5-foot-7 (170 cm), 155 lb lightweight (70 kg) Guida can claim to have merited a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu too but has also branched out to receive a black belt in Gaidojutsu. He hasn’t won since December 2022, having lost two straight. In fact, his last time on the mat was December 2023 against Joaquim Silva, a defeat via unanimous decision.

Guida has battled in an impressive 59 fights and posts an honourable 38-21 tally for this effort. As can be seen from the stats and from the eye test, Guida has a height disadvantage, not to mention his shorter reach of 70 inches to Hooper’s 74. Most of his wins come courtesy of favourable judges’ decisions (45 per cent), whereas 37 per cent are earned with submissions and the remaining 18 per cent with good old KO/TKO.

Where the veteran might be in trouble concerns major strikes. He only delivers 2.64 every 60 seconds and hardly takes any less than Hooper (3.01 to 3.33). That said, his defence is superior, tabulated at 61 per cent to Hooper’s 36 per cent.

Even though he wins less often by submission, he averages more takedowns per 15 minutes with 3.13 to 1.45.
