UFC 300 Odds, Prediction: Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller

Green is a -165 favourite to win on the MMA odds and Miller is a +140 underdog.

Bobby Green UFC 300 Odds

Islam Makhachev is the current UFC lightweight champion and pound-for-pound king, and the 37-year-old Green, with a record of 37-15-1 with a no-contest, is ranked 14th in the division. Green is a former King of the Cage welterweight and lightweight champion. He has never fought for a belt in the UFC and likely never will but did face Makhachev in February 2022 and lost by first-round TKO (punches).

Since then, “King” Green is 2-2 with a no-contest and comes off a first-round KO (punches) loss to Jalin Turner in December, less than a month after Green beat Grant Dawson by first-round KO (punches) as he took the Turner fight on very short notice in place of Dan Hooker. Turner landed 19 consecutive punches before the referee stopped the fight – Green appeared unconscious by the 17th strike.

The 5-foot-10 Green has a reach of 71 inches and his bouts average 11:16. He lands 6.28 significant strikes per minute in UFC competition (third-best rate among active fighters in the division) with 52 per cent accuracy and absorbs 3.74 with 62 per cent defence. His takedown average is 1.20 per 15 minutes with 37 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 74 per cent.

Green has landed 1,659 significant strikes in UFC lightweight competition, the most in divisional history, and has landed 1,885 total strikes in lightweight competition, also the most in divisional history. Overall, he has 11 wins by KO/TKO and 11 by decision along with nine by submission. For Saturday, Green’s favoured method of victory is by decision at +165, followed by KO/TKO/DQ at +300 and submission at +1600. A draw is +5000.

“He’s been in a bunch of wars the same as I, so we both share those similarities, but this dance will be a lot different than any other dance he’s dealt with before,” Green said of his opponent Jim Miller. “What am I expecting? I’m expecting him to get hit a lot, I’m expecting him to look for a way out, that’s what I’m expecting him to do. I know he’s been through so many tests, but once he realizes how hard he’s getting hit and how many times they’re coming, it’s just inevitable.”

Jim Miller UFC 300 Odds

The 40-year-old Miller has been fighting professionally since 2005 and is unranked in the lightweight division with a record of 37-17 with one no-contest. This is the fourth time Miller has been scheduled to fight Bobby Green dating all the way back to UFC 172, but a Green issue popped up in each of the first three.

“A-10” has won five of his past six in the Octagon and last fought in January, beating Gabriel Benitez by third-round submission (face crank). Immediately after his win, Miller mentioned Paul Felder or Matt Brown as ideal opponents for UFC 300, and there was never much doubt that Miller would be on this card as he will become the first fighter to compete at UFC 100 (beat Matt Danzig), 200 (beat Takanori Gomi) and now 300. Brock Lesnar is the only other fighter to appear at both UFC 100 and UFC 200.

The 5-foot-8 Miller, a southpaw, has a reach of 71 inches and his fights average 9:41. He lands 2.96 significant strikes per minute with 42 per cent accuracy and absorbs 3.18 with 58 per cent defence. His takedown average is 1.58 per 15 minutes with 44 percent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 48 per cent.

Miller has 20 wins by submission, 10 by decision and seven by KO/TKO. His 26 overall victories in UFC competition are most in company history, his 23 wins in UFC lightweight competition are the most in divisional history and his 18 stoppage victories are second-most in company history behind Charlies Oliveira’s 20. Miller’s 48 submission attempts in UFC competition are the most in company history. He has no plans to retire yet, but has a number in mind.

”Leading up to my 50th UFC fight, I want you guys to know that that’s it,” Miller said about retirement. “If I get there, that’s it. Cut the gloves off me, take them and run. Don’t let me sign another bout agreement. It’s been fun but hopefully I get to 50 fights in the UFC, get to 30 wins in the UFC, and then we can call it a wrap.”

This will be Miller’s 44th UFC bout, the most in company history, and his 41st lightweight appearance is the divisional record. For Saturday, Miller’s favoured method of victory is by KO/TKO/DQ at +400, followed by decision at +450 and submission at +475.

The over-under for the scheduled three-rounder is 2.5 rounds with the Over a -145 favourite. That it goes the distance is -120 and no -110.
