Nicknamed the “Dirty Bird”, the 39-year-old Means has had a rough go in the octagon in the recent past. The Oklahoma native faced Kevin Holland not quite a year ago at UFC ESPN 37 in June 2022, but fell victim to a submission in the sophomore round. Then, at UFC 213 in October of last year, it was Max Griffin who got the better of him, at least according to the judges who arrived at a split decision. The last time he walked away a winner was all the way back in November 2020.
He may be seven years older than Saturday’s opponent, but his 32-14-1 record is telling enough. Means won’t go down easily. He has a size advantage, coming it six feet and two inches to Morono’s five feet and eleven inches. The physicality extends to his reach capabilities, pardon the pun. The arms are good for 75 inches to Morono’s 72, and the legs 43.5 to his rival’s 39. KO and TKO are preferred methods of victory, with 59 per cent earned in those manners. The average fight times are comparable – 10:12 for Means and 11:40 for Morono.
Both these brawlers love to hit, with Means averaging 4.91 blows per 60 seconds and only absorbing 3.58. His defence is very solid as well at 60 per cent. Means is much more of a grappler than Morono, successfully executing 1.13 takedowns every 15 minutes whereas his opponent only does 0.3.

The Texan who boldly goes by the nickname “the Great White” also struggled in his most recent bout. Santiago Ponzinibbio took him down via TKO at UFC 282 last December. Prior to that there was a successful visit to the octagon in July 2022 at UFC 277 when Matthew Semelsberger awaited him. That time the judges awarded a unanimous decision.
Morono may be a bit shorter than Means but given that he actually weighs 1.4 pounds more (185.4 to 184.00), he is a more compact muscle package. We just mentioned that his last victory was courtesy of the judges. That goes for 43 per cent of his overall wins, whereas only 29 per cent come through good old-fashioned KO/TKO, as well as submissions. As alluded to, both contestants land a decent amount of significant hits within a minute, but Morono is slightly more efficient, getting in 5.22. On the flip side, he takes a bit more as well (4.09). His grapple defence is nearly as good at 57 per cent to Means’ 60.
