The Toronto Blue Jays finally made the decision that many people were expecting. Starting pitcher Alek Manoah was sent to the minor leagues. But rather than have him join the club’s Triple-A Buffalo-based organization, management deemed it more prudent to have Manoah work at the Jays’ Florida League Complex.

Alek Manoah Sent to Florida Complex League
While most predicted that Manoah’s time with the Blue Jays’ first team was numbered, not many would have guessed he’d be sanctioned to the Florida Complex League. Bastl probes “Gibby’s” mind and wisdom to better understand such a decision.
“I guess the fact they (the Triple-A Buffalo squad) wouldn’t pitch him right away. You don’t put him on the Buffalo roster and not play him, right? Because normally it’s ‘Go down there and get your game together and we’ll call you back up.’”
To John Gibbons’ point, if the purpose of taking Alek Manoah off the major league roster is to allow him time to work on his game, it would be ludicrous to share him with a team that already has its starting rotation in good order. He wouldn’t be getting much work in anyways.
There is also the fact the Blue Jays spent a lot of money on the Complex building itself, so why not use it? For the uninitiated, the Florida Complex League is a division in Minor League Baseball. The Florida Complex League Blue Jays are, as one can surely guess, a minor league version of the MLB club.
