Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, Kevin Gausman, and Whit Merrifield are the quartet of players who will have the honour of representing the Toronto Blue Jays at next week’s MLB All-Star Game. Vladdy is even participating in the home run contest. But could there have been anybody else from Toronto who deserved a spot?

Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Game Snubs

David Bastl makes it very clear that having four players from one team on an All-Star roster is pretty good. But for the sake of conversation, and given how well some other Blue Jays players have fared this year, is there anyone who might have made the American League squad?

John Gibbons shares his thoughts.

“Bullpen guys hardly ever make it. I’d have loved to see Tim Mayza get in. He’s had a tremendous year and just keeps getting better.”

An interesting choice to say the least. Mayza has served in 28.1 innings at the time of writing. He has earned one save, but has struck out 27 and has a fantastic 1.27 ERA.

“Gibby” waxes some poetic about the players who did get in.

“You know what, I really like Whit Merrifield. To get recognized for his style of player, just a good hard-nosed ball player that helps you win games is really nice to see. Maybe Vladdy Jr. will win that home run contest. You never know!”
