Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees: Odds, Prediction

Add Sports Interacton as Your Preferred News Source

The Yankees (37-25) are just a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the top spot in the American League East. Conversely, the Red Sox (26-35) lie dormant at the bottom of the division, 11 games behind the Rays. It’s the start of June, so even if you’re the Sox, you still have a shot. That said, it’s time to get some wins together if you’re going to make a push before the All-Star Break and the trade deadline at the end of July.

Tonight’s game should be a good one, so let’s break it all down and provide our best bet for Red Sox vs. Yankees.

Red Sox vs. Yankees Betting Analysis

The Red Sox are a total anomaly across baseball, as they are much better away from Fenway Park than they are at home. Boston is 5-1 in their last six games on the road, but on the road against the Yankees specifically, the total has gone under in four of Boston’s last six games against the Bombers.

Meanwhile, the Yankees’ game total has gone over in five out of the last six games, but under in the last six against Boston. We’ve had some pitchers’ duels between these two teams this season, and we may be in store for another one tonight with Sonny Gray and Ryan Weathers taking the bump for each side.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox are just 4-8 in their last 12 games, as they most recently dropped two of three to the Baltimore Orioles. Reportedly, Boston is in the market for a right-handed bat, but their pitching has kept them from totally bottoming out in the AL East. They have the makings of a good, young rotation with Connolly Early and Payton Tolle as the future, while veterans Sonny Gray and Ranger Suarez provide good innings.

While the offseason trade acquisition Willson Contreras (12 HR, 35 RBI) is doing his part with a triple slash of .295/.392/.527 and a .927 OPS, he needs help. Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela have been solid, but no other bat has produced thus far.

New York Yankees

After getting back on the hitting train with wins in six of their last seven games, the Yankees dropped two of three to the Cleveland Guardians and could have been a sweep had the Yankees not pulled out a 2-1 win on Thursday afternoon. Thankfully, pitching has been the Yankees’ saving grace this season, and they’ll need it now more than ever if Aaron Judge’s injury keeps him out of the lineup for a lengthy amount of time.

With the Yankees getting Carlos Rodon and Gerrit Cole back to add to AL Cy Young favourite Cam Schlittler, Will Warren and Ryan Weathers, this deep and talented rotation can carry the load for the Yankees into September and October.

Baseball Prediction: Who Will Win Red Sox vs. Yankees?

For the home Yankees, they’ll send out Weathers to pitch tonight, who has been solid for most of the season, but he’s given up some runs lately – five earned runs in two of his last three starts to be exact. For Boston on the road, they’ll counter with Gray, who makes his first start in June after a sterling May in which he went 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA and allowed just six earned runs in five starts.

With Judge out and two solid pitchers on the hill, we’ll play the percentages here and take the under. Runs should be at a premium with Gray and Weathers on the hill for the series opening game tonight at Yankee Stadium.

Best Bet: Under 8 (-112)
