MLB Report: Bo Bichette open to playing second base
Free agent Bo Bichette has reportedly informed teams he is willing to move to second base.
Here’s what you need to know.
Bo Bichette
Bichette has spent almost his entire professional career playing shortstop.
However, the 27-year-old played second base for all seven World Series games with Toronto this year while battling through a knee injury. It was the first time he played the position at the major-league level.
Bichette is one of the biggest free agent names available this winter because of his hitting ability, but he has never been considered a star defensive player. A willingness to move to second should open more opportunities to find suitors.
Bichette hit .311 last season, while his 44 doubles was second-most in the majors and his 181 hits was tied for second.
He missed the last month of the regular season and the ALDS and ALCS while recovering from the knee injury.
BIchette returned for Game 1 of the World Series and went on to hit a massive three-run home run in Game 7 before the Blue Jays ultimately fell to the Dodgers in the 11th inning.
Toronto has already made some significant moves in the off-season to upgrade their starting pitching and their relievers and they sit at +1300 to win the World Series in 2026.
