Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves: Odds, Prediction
Every MLB team will be in action on Tuesday, which will include a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves.
This game between the Cubs and Braves is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, and has an expected first pitch time of 7:15 p.m. ET. The game will be played at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
Betting Analysis
A quick look at the current MLB odds and we can see that the Braves are the small favourite. As it stands, the Braves are -120 favourites on the moneyline, while the Cubs are a +102 moneyline underdog.
In terms of the runline, you can bet the Braves +1.5 at odds of -196, while the Cubs are -1.5 and carry odds of +162.
Additionally, the current total for this game has been set at 9.0 total runs. Over 9.0 runs has odds of -110, while Under 9.0 runs also has the same odds of -110.
Chicago Cubs
Chicago enters this game with a record of 27-14 and is in first place in the NL Central division. After recently having won 10 games in a row, the Cubs have lost each of their last two matchups against the Texas Rangers.
Looking to get back on track in Game 1 of this series, Chicago is scheduled to start Colin Rea. The right-hander has a record of 4-1 this season, but an ERA of 4.03. Rea has been worse on the road, having allowed 11 earned runs over 17.2 innings (5.60 ERA) in four appearances (two starts).
Atlanta Braves
Atlanta lost their first series of the season last week, but bounced back by taking two out of three against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves are now 28-13 and are in first place in the NL East by a growing margin.
Atlanta will be looking to increase its win streak to three games with Grant Holmes on the mound in Game 1. Holmes has a record of 2-1 this season, but an ERA of 4.34.
Holmes has particularly struggled at home, and over three starts, he has allowed nine earned runs (5.40 ERA) over 15.0 innings.
MLB Prediction: Who Will Win Cubs vs. Braves?
While the Braves have been the best team in the league this season, the Cubs are not far behind them. Given that, we can expect to see a close game tonight where there could be plenty of runs scored.
As mentioned, neither starter has been consistent this season. On top of that, Atlanta is the number one-ranked scoring offence, while Chicago is third in scoring offence.
The Cubs were shut out in their last two games; however, they are still averaging 5.2 runs per game. The Braves, on the other hand, are averaging 5.6 runs per game.
With all that in mind, I’m taking Atlanta to pick up the 6-4 victory.
