The CJ Cup Byron Nelson: 2025 PGA Tour Betting Odds

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is a favourite on the golf odds.

The Byron Nelson is one of two PGA Tour events named after a player alongside March’s Arnold Palmer Invitational in the Orlando area. This had been called the AT&T Byron Nelson since 2015, but the CJ Group took on the role of official title sponsor ahead of last year.

TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, about 30 miles north of Dallas has been the host since 2021. The average-winning total on this relatively flat track has been 261.75. It’s a par 71 at approximately 7,570 yards and underwent a massive renovation since last year’s tournament with a design led by 21-time Tour winner Lanny Wadkins and his firm.  The course was lengthened, as the par-5 fifth will now play over 630 yards, and the par-4 eighth will play longer than 500 yards. Golfers must deal with Rowlett Creek, which crosses the course on 14 of the 18 holes.

It’s not often we get to say a Canadian player is the defending champion of a PGA Tour event, but Taylor Pendrith became the first from the country to win here in 2024 (was priced +10000 entering), finishing at 23-under 261 and up a shot on fairly unknown American Ben Kohles. He had overtaken Pendrith with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 for a one-shot lead in the final round but bogeyed the 18th after hitting his second shot into greenside rough. Kohles then missed a 6-foot putt that would have forced a playoff.

Pendrith, who shot a final-round 67, holed a short putt for birdie at the par-5 finisher to win his first title in his 74th career start. The winner of the tournament has been at least 23 under every year since 2018 (no event in 2020).  There hasn’t been a playoff since 2017 when Billy Horschel beat Jason Day.

This is the last chance for players not already qualified to get into next week’s Signature Event, the Truist Championship in Philadelphia.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is back in the Bryon Nelson field after missing last year’s tournament while he and his wife, Meredith, were expecting the birth of their first child. Scheffler is clearly the best player in it despite not winning yet in 2025, but his price of +280 is ridiculous. His best result here was fifth in 2023.

Like Scheffler, Jordan Spieth (+1800) lives in the Dallas area, and Spieth’s scoring average here of 67.10 since 2021 is second-best in the field. He missed the cut in 2024 but was a runner-up by a shot to KH Lee in 2022. Byeong Hun An (+2200) has the best scoring average of 66.38 in this event since 2021 and was fourth last year.

Sungjae Im is +2500 and Sam Burns +2800. Im is the only other world Top 20 player in the field at No. 20 and comes off a T5 at the Masters and then a T11 at the RBC Heritage but hasn’t played here in years. Burns has a runner-up here in 2021 but missed the cut in 2022 and hasn’t played the event since. Korn Ferry Tour player Christo Lamprecht (+22500) earned his way into the field after being named the 2024 Byron Nelson Award recipient as a graduating senior at Georgia Tech.

We mentioned Taylor Pendrith above, and he’s +2800 to become the first repeat winner here since South Korea’s KH Lee in 2022. Pendrith has three Top 10s this year but also has missed three cuts. Mackenzie Hughes was T41 last year, while Ben Silverman and Roger Sloan missed the cut. Hughes is +4000 this week with Adam Svensson +17500 and Silverman +40000.

We like South Korea’s Si Woo Kim at +3000 as his stroke average here since 2021 is 67.71, with a 13th last year and a runner-up in 2023. Kim isn’t having a great 2025 but was Top 10 his last individual event at the RBC Heritage.
