Quicken Loans National PGA Golf Odds And Predictions
This week’s Quicken Loans National PGA Tour event outside Washington, D.C., will be the end of an era for the tournament as it will be moving to Detroit starting in 2019.
Quicken Loans National Odds
The Quicken Loans National was established in 2007 by Tiger Woods to help benefit his charitable foundation. It has been played in the Washington, D.C., area ever since but will become the first-ever PGA Tour event staged in Detroit city limits starting in 2019 while retaining the sponsorship of Quicken Loans, a Michigan-based company owned by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. It is expected to keep the same date, but Tiger’s foundation no longer will be involved.
This year’s Quicken Loans National is played at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm for the second year in a row. It’s a par 70 measuring 7,107 yards and the fourth course to host overall. The course record set last year was a 64 by Nick Watney in the final round. The 72-hole course record is a 273 set by Kyle Stanley and Charles Howell III also last year. Those two began their final round four shots off the lead and both shot 66s to reach a playoff, where Stanley was victorious. He is back to defend and is +2000 at Sports Interaction. No player has won the event back-to-back, and Stanley hasn’t won since. His only other career win was at the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Quicken Loans National Favourites
Not a great field this week with only four of the Top 30. Rickie Fowler is the highest-ranked player in the world in it and is the +650 betting favourite. He finished tied for third last year at 5 under after closing with a 65. Fowler comes off a tie for 20th at the incredibly difficult U.S. Open.
Woods is +1200 to win his tournament for the third time. He did in 2009 & ’12, both at Congressional Country Club. Woods is playing here for the first time since 2015 because of off-the-course issues. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open. Americans have won this tournament eight of 11 times.
Aussie Marc Leishman is +1800 with Italy’s Francesco Molinari at +2000. Leishman finished tied for fifth last year at 4 under, shooting 66s in Rounds 1 & 4 and 72s in the middle two. He missed the cut last week at the Travelers Championship. Molinari won a few weeks ago on the European Tour and most recently was 25th at the U.S. Open on the PGA Tour. He didn’t play here in 2017.
Canadian Golfer Odds
No Canadian player has won the Quicken Loans National. Adam Hadwin is +7500 to do so and Ben Silverman +15000. The former missed the cut last year following rounds of 72-73. Hadwin was T42 last week at the Travelers. Silverman didn’t play the 2017 Quicken Loans National and missed the cut last week. Corey Conners is +12500, and Nick Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes are both +20000. David Hearn is +25000. Taylor had the best finish of any Canadian last year at T29. Hughes was T51 and Hearn 73rd.
Quicken Loans National Predictions
We like Fowler and Howell III for Top-10 finishes, but the winning choice at +3300 is Kevin Na. He comes off a T5 last week in Korea and was T22 here a year ago, improving his score in each round.
