AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am PGA Tour Betting Odds
Patrick Cantlay is favoured on the golf odds.
Everyone in the field will play one of three courses in the first three rounds this week: The magnificent Pebble Beach Golf Links (par 72; 6,972 yards), Spyglass Hill Golf Club (par 72; 7,041 yards) and Monterey Peninsula Country Club (par 71; 6,958 yards). Then there’s a 54-hole cut and the players all compete at Pebble. The par-5 18th is one of the most recognizable holes in the world along the Pacific Ocean.
The defending champion is American Daniel Berger. He was tied with Maverick McNealy (had finished) teeing off on the 72nd hole Sunday and needed a birdie to win. Berger instead drained a 30-foot eagle putt to win by two. He finished at 18-under 270 for a fourth career win and became the fourth player on record (since 1983) to have four eagles in the tournament overall. All four eagles were at Pebble Beach. Berger hasn’t won since.
Because of the pandemic, only Pebble Beach (three rounds) and Spyglass Hill were used in 2021 and there was a 36-hole cut. There also was no pro-am. It will be back to normal this year. Some big names are skipping this week, though, because of a big-money PIF Saudi International being played on the Asian Tour. For example, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson (both past winners at Pebble Beach) both got waivers from the PGA Tour to go play in Saudi Arabia. Most top Europeans are playing there.
Americans have won this tournament all but four times, with Mark O’Meara and Mickelson each having been victorious a record five times.
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Odds
Patrick Cantlay has opened as the +750 favorite and is the highest-ranked player in the world in the field at No. 4. Cantlay finished tied for third last year and tied the course record (62) at Pebble in the opening round. He hasn’t been worse than ninth in two events so far this year.
Daniel Berger is +1100 to repeat. He comes off a T20 on Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Open. Berger was T5 at this event in 2020 as well.
Will Zalatoris is +1600 with Jason Day and Jordan Spieth both +2000. Spieth shared the lead briefly on Sunday last year but bogeyed two of his first five holes to fall out of contention. He finished T3 and won in 2017. Day was T3 on Sunday at the Farmers and annually contends here but has yet to win. Zalatoris lost in a playoff to Luke List (not playing here) on Sunday in San Diego but hasn’t contended in two trips to this event.
Canadian golfers have had success at this tournament with a few runners-up and Nick Taylor’s win in 2020 when he finished at 19-under 268 and four shots up on second-place Kevin Streelman. The British Columbia native hasn’t won since and his Tour exemption from that victory runs through the 2022-23 season.
Last year, Taylor was the top Canadian finisher at T39. Roger Sloan, David Hearn and Michael Gligic all missed the cut. Mackenzie Hughes is +4000 this week with Adam Hadwin +6600, Taylor +8000, Taylor Pendrith +8000, Adam Svensson +15000 and Gligic +35000. Pendrith was the top Canadian finisher Sunday at the Farmers with a T16.
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Predictions
Take Spieth and Cantlay for Top 10s, but Jason Day is the winner. He’s overdue at the tournament.
